Well I think you've picked three people who very rarely post there actually!
I had a cracking Burns night, cheers! You?

We have an amazing choice.
We can either vote YES (SNP) which means YES to Scotland as part of a superstate (Europe) but NO to Scotland as part of a superstate (UK).
Or we can vote NO (Tories/UKIP) which means YES to Scotland as part of a superstate (UK) but probably NO to Scotland as part of a superstate (Europe).
Both illogically claim that Scotland benefits from being in one union but not in the other.
Simples.

All you have to ask yourself is how super do you really think it's going to be and what kind of a state do you think it's going to be in.
As someone who is South of the border what I found irksome is that we don't get a vote as to whether we actually want to keep Scotland as part of great Britain.
I am sure the answer would be a resounding YES! but it would be nice to have some kind of involvement

As it's about self-determination for those in Scotland it's only logical that those living in the rest of the UK don't get a vote. What if RUK voted to expel Scotland whilst Scottish residents voted for the union ?million voices wrote:All you have to ask yourself is how super do you really think it's going to be and what kind of a state do you think it's going to be in.

What I find amusing is that I (born in England) get a vote but tax exiles like Sean Connery don't. I expect that he'll still be popping up all over the media lecturing me on how I should vote though

....but what would be nice is if the Scots vote to go it alone.
Then England could announce the result of it's vote and tell them that they didn't want them anyway!

If you jettison the rest of us, I might be tempted to relocate north of The Border.
I'd rather be part of the EU, corrupt as it is, with some vestiges remaining of the ideas of social justice and welfare, than part of a non-EU UK permanently ruled by the Tory spivs that are selling out everything that's good about this country to their mates.

Here here. I want Scotland to go it alone, as long as it's prepared for the refugees streaming across the border from England!
it's gonna be Palestine- Israel or US of America - United Mexican States border. let them choose what they want.
No, i'm serious. I think that Cameron will order to build a wall, fence and shoot towers, if Scotland will say bye-bye to UK. He's a populist and UK, as rest of Europe, has a problem with 'aliens'- i got a feeling that people in some way want and wait for dictators to come, rule and 'solve' 'their' 'problems'. Mankind is stupid and never learn from their past.
For a while now the Scots have been inundated with arguments for and against Independence, how we'll be better or worse off.It shouldn't be about plus or minus £500 in our pockets, whether we're a burden or an asset to the rest of the UK , it's not about trusting Alex Salmond , Alistair Darling, the Tories ,SNP or Labour. It’s a very hard thing paying tax, yes I know it’s our social responsibility, the part I’m happy with, as well as a legal obligation but I can’t help but feel we’re just handing a bunch of irresponsible bastards the funds to do whatever the hell they like. And it’s even worse when you didn’t vote for them.
I think Independence will bring it's share of both tough and good times.I believe we're mature and responsible enough as a nation to make our own decisions.

Do we get Megadeth to play a concert in George Square? If not, I'm against it.

What he said. It's an even more fake 'Union' than the Westworld over the Big Water.psichonaut wrote:The EU is a s**t. Of a regime and the United money ruined us, so you Scottish think before vote
United in name alone, with even more local rules than before the union, a big mastodont comprised of a gazillion peeping and nagging little self-inportant voices doing s**t all to do at least a futile attempt at listening to the others.
IZ.
Whatever Scotland's people choose. It's good to know that EU is a fake Union that will crush next years... If they go alone better do as is Norway, or Iceland or Switzerland. Keep away and safe from EU!

everything was good with EU until 2008, after that year union was not so much union as free partnership of separate states. and that's just sad.

As an outside observer, I find this discussion to be quite fascinating. I also note that there seems to be a lot more skepticism about the EU than I recall noticing here in the past.

I blame 'empty nationalism'. EU never had a chance for being even close to US of A, because history, way too long history of most Europe states (countries) and mutual (multilateral) resentments. Each countries (and states) are so 'unique' that they are reluctant to relinquish 'value' that comes from being separate state. And now, when it's not nice all, that nationalism is even stronger. Plus, as Simple Minds put it, 'Europe has a language problem, talk, talk, talk talking on', where sometimes it should be 'a little less conversation and a little more action'.

EU changed everything in terms of economical politics, forced states to take a parameter of public debit in too less time putting whole economies on the edge of a default they would never risk, this strategy is forcing the states to Cut retirements, improve taxes. This is having a boomerang effect not only on the single states but on the whole Union. There is a lot to say over this, for exsample EU obliges Italy to take care of illegal immigrants from Afrika but allows Malta to refuse them and Spain to shot on themsultan2075 wrote:As an outside observer, I find this discussion to be quite fascinating. The real problem is that EU misses a common politic but its in the Hands of Germany and France
