Great review, @Bartek As a long-time Neurosis fan (when I'm in the mood for something apocalyptic) I was a bit disappointed with the Corrections House CD (a bit low-fi and muddily produced) earlier this year so am glad to hear that they rocked 'live'.
indeed, when i was listening few songs on YT, 2 hrs before gig, i sounded not so fell, as you described low-fi, flat sound. that flat, low-fi sound, is present at gig, there's no proper drums set, drums and keyboards are from laptop and these sounds awfully low-fi, like a cheap Terminator theme. I like that they using tenor saxophone to make drone, that gives unique touch. In my opinion lyrics are funny (i guess unintended) and silly (if New York is a city that never sleeps, then why every second someone passing out? if New Orleans is an easy city, then why life is so hard?)
but if they gonna play near your city go and enjoy, i'll probably do the same.

Sabbath last night - incredible.
Ozzy really got the crowd stoked up. Amazing energy for a tottering old man.
And the drummer was awesome. Check him out -

>>>if i'd known you were going steve we could have met up for a drink! oh well...<<
not only was it awesome to finally see one of the top 5 bands of my whole life, but Tony Iommi was looking really well, so hopefully the cancer treatment has worked. we were downstairs as well so although it was a massive arena it was quite up-close and intimate too.
got to say the "brittania hotel" on new street in birmingham was an absolute bargain: double room with en-suite bath and bog, tv and all-you-can-eat full english breakfast for £44 all-in.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

It was great Brother Lee. Great night all round.
If I'd have known you were there I would have bought the Simon Hinker album that has been sitting waiting for me to post it too!
Sorry we missed the chance for a pint.

I am home for a while....finally..but anyhow will probably go and see APHND on Feb 12th in NL, have ot skip all other European tour dates. as far as other gigs, Deathstars, Soror Dolorosa, possible Nova Rock fest in Austria for Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Arch Enemy and Soundgarden..this fest will of course depend on the Leipzig situation:)

It was an awesome show.
They started the support slot with Atmosphere and rattled through a few JD songs for half an hour (Decades, Dead Souls, Colony etc...) before launching into the New Order set.
Highlights of which were Dreams Never End, Denial, Age Of Consent, Your Silent Face, Ceremony, Temptation and Blue Monday.
Finishing with Love Will Tear Us Apart.

After the wonderment and comfort that was the Mott the Hoople gig at the Armadillo, I got a wheelchair and a mate to shove me about, plus Mott were brilliant and not just a nostalgia act, I now have a pretty full calendar for 2014.
Tues April 8, Glasgow City Halls - David Sedaris
Tues May 6, Clyde Auditorium (Armadillo) - Rick Wakeman on another Journey to...
Tues 20 May, The Hydro - NIN
Tues 8 July, Glasgow Concert Hall - Hall & Oates
Sat (Yay!) 25 October - Steve Hackett, Genesis revisited
Howzabout that then pop pickers!?

Something off the beaten track ... tonight I listened to a nice Sixties/Seventies cover band with quite hypnotic drums on a beach of the island of Borneo looking at the sun going down over the South China Sea ... if I would smoke, some weed would have made my day ...
@James: Genesis revisited sounds interesting, does he play Continental Europe as well?

That's just what a mate of mine said James , when he had seen Mott the Hoople about 2 years ago in London. I have seen them years ago , but I do so fancy seeing them again.James Blast wrote:After the wonderment and comfort that was the Mott the Hoople gig at the Armadillo, I got a wheelchair and a mate to shove me about, plus Mott were brilliant and not just a nostalgia act, I now have a pretty full calendar for 2014.

Steve Hackett gig will be a good one. Just checked out what's near me on this tour, and York's the best for me. That's the gig which is the day after the Glasgow one James. Seen Book of Genesis ( Genesis tribute band ) last year, and if you ever get chance to see them go.

Cheers man!
Just heard Roedelius is playing a small intimate gig in a new bar on the Southside of Glasgow not far from where I live in April. Be churlish not to go.

Just been told Lizzie & the Banshees have cancelled the Leeds gig , dont know why.
They are playing Glasgow though on the Friday 18th April, so get yourself down Mr James Blast , as its in your neck of the woods.
Shame though would have loved to have seen them next week, but still will hopefully catch them at the Rebellion fringe festival in August.

Kind of glad Lizzie cancelled as I'm not in Leeds that weekend! Really keen to catch them.
Definitely catching the Chameleons in York.
