This whole thing is panning out as if scripted really.
It is truly a horrific event, but you just know each side will blame the other.
You know Obama is going to step in & make a statement that includes & emphasises the word "Russia" a record number of times.
You know that the rebels are going to allow access to the wreckage to international investigators & you know that they will then be obstructive. Seriously, if they really didn't down it, then wtf is their problem?
You know the flight recorder will be moved to a totally neutral location for analysis pretty darn quickly.
You know the western world will be baying for Putin's blood (as if anyone actually believed he had any control of Russia in the first place).

The only surprise for me so far is that CNN haven't started with their black hole theories yet.

What is really shocking to me it's a fact that, so far, watching BBC, CNN and Euronews, no one mentioned that plane crashed less than 20 km from Russian border. I'm also wondering what Obama would say if no U.S. of A. citizen died on that horrific accident (even that this 19 yrs old, was just born in U.S. of A.).

Not quite sure what you're expecting Obama to do about this shocking incident, @Bartek. If it turns out that the early speculation (ie shot down in error by those believing it to be an enemy plane) it seems to me that it is the inevitable consequence of the West's current official policy of non direct intervention but providing secret support whilst pretending to allow indigenous populations settle local issues without outside intervention, which is then seemingly mirrored by the other side (Russia, in this instance). Those without formal training, protocols etc on both sides end up in charge of destructive hardware outwith the control of their paylords. This is why I suggested getting UN boots on the ground and brokering a political solution back in post #15 of this thread in the early days of this issue.

It's so obvious that even if it was accident (and it seems to plausible), Russia is still one to blame, they supporting so~called Pro-Russian separatists, handing them weapon. It's proved that there are Russians and people from Russian Army in Ukraine fighting against Ukraine. And yet it seems that rest of the world simply don't give a f**k, French sending Russia naval ships, everyone doing business like normal, keeping normal diplomatic relations with them, I can only guess that they are naive to think that this can change a thing by talking with Bloodymir and Lavrov.
In site of where plane crashed, again, so~called pro-Russian separatists blocking investigators access to place of crash.
It's silly to think that UN alone will do something, it will nothing, China and Russia will not let that happen.
You seriously wanna let Russia do what they want - which is do another free referendum in Ukraine? In Crimea it was free referendum? Back in the past there were free referendum and votes in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Poland and so? and, history showed us enough to not trust Russia (whatever it was called in history).

What is deeply worrying is that the Buk launcher has a mechanism that can read a plane's transponder signal to identify it as a commercial or military aircraft.
You'd have to manually override it to shoot down an airliner like that.

If this is true, these "rebels" have lost the legitimation to be treated as political opponents and should rather be dealt with as terrorists. IMO

what's bothering me...I am starting to think it wasn't an accident. I just downloaded a free IPhone app that tells me which plane is where..a freaking free app can identify the planes so don't tell me they don't have that capability. I have spent half a day playing with it, it's pretty cool though but allows anyone at any moment to figure out the planes above you

so now, playing with Bloodymir cards there's-no-Russians-there-it's internal Ukraine-issue, taking a fact that "rebels" shot down civilian plane, there should be open military support for Ukrainian gov. to fight these so~called rebel. Of course it's risk an open European war, but again, if Bloodymir claiming that he's not supporting them, not handing them weapon, people then he should back the f**k up and watch, because Holland, Belgium, Germany, UK and so have a legitimate issue - their citizens were killed because of that "internal Ukrainian issue". and yes I know, nothing like that will happen because Frau Merkel is not willing to do anything, because she seems to think that she knows a key a to Bloodymir's hear and head. (and France will give Mistrals build for Russia.)
