FPL GW1: Preview, update and review (Deadline: 11:30 16Aug)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Meh. Only 14 points yesterday. But most of my team are playing today.

you wouldn't say that if you were joint bottom! i'm 35 pts behind Spiritwalkers. which reminds me, can we have some sort of identifier as to which gothic legend we are playing for the glory of?
i don't know everyone by their real names and a quick visual reference would be handy.

even a permanent list for each side would do.

For those of you new to the game:

1. Go to your POINTS page and scroll down to the scores in the matches.

2. Click on the score, i.e., 1-2 for MUN vs SWA and a new window opens detailing who did what.

3. If you then click on Detailed stats (bottom left corner) another window will open that gives you, umm... more detailed stats.

4. The key number here is the BPS (Bonus Points System) which is explained in more detail under HELP---> RULES---> Scoring.

Basically, the top three BPS performances are rewarded with FPL 'Bonus' points which are visible in #2.

Aha! Thanks for the heads up.

As the league doesn't seem to have updated, shall we have the scores on the doors? I'm on 34 with Terry to pplay tomorrow...

Still points to come in from the Burnley/Chelsea match don't forget. The table may change substantially after that ;)

Exactly, and I hope that Fabregas and Schürrle will give me some additional lift off today and lead after first match day for 11 Imaginary Boys.

Interesting to see how optimism is so wide spread here around Heartland regarding the prospects for this season... Not bad for a bunch waiting for new album since 1990.. :notworthy:

But it will not save you in the end.

Just to clarify the 'my points don't add up' discussion:

1. Points on your POINTS page are updated in real time (or as fast as the FPL web-monkeys can input the data) during matches. F5 is your friend.

2. At the end of the last game in each MD, within a GW, FPL spend the next 60mins rechecking the data. When all is confirmed they award the Bonus Points. Again, F5 is your friend.

3. Then they begin the update. It can take between 60-90mins but at the end of it all the numbers will match up, and points/rankings are official.

4. There's two ways to check that the update has been completed:

a) Go to bed and have a look the next day.

b) Go to PICK TEAM. To the left of the GW2 tab you'll see the GW1 tab, currently showing a status of "In progress". Once that changes to "Completed", GW1 is done and dusted and locked.

Again, F5 is your friend, but probably only an option for the night owls. And Lee.

You're learning Young Grasshopper:

"He who sees with an open eye,
Is no longer blind."

Should have stuck some shit about cherry blossom and rivers running, in there as well, but ran out of time. Sorry!

Don't think Schürrle will even be in the squad as he's just come back from his "I won the World Cup" holiday and only resumed training last week.

But welcome, laperouse and thank you! :)

Lineups for this evening

Chelsea XI: Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Fabregas, Matic, Schurrle, Oscar, Hazard, Costa.

Burnley XI: Heaton, Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Mee, Taylor, Marney, Jones, Arfield, Ings, Jutkiewicz.

Bit surprised at Courtois starting, but he is a damn fine keeper.
Cheers.

And this is why it is so hard to select Chelsea players for your FF team with any confidence.

So I guess we're lining up as a 4-2-3-1:

Courtois
Ivanovic - Cahill - Terry - Azpilicueta
Fabregas - Matic
Schürrle - Oscar - Hazard
Costa.

:?:

But not so hard for both of us to make the identical early transfer in FPL.

it wasn't so much the 'completed' thing, johnny - i could see it saying that. it was the GW points given as 36 and total as 10 - was trying to work out if there was another, obscure, layer of scoring i hadn't found! but it updated that too, eventually.
