FPL GW3: Preview, update and review (Deadline 30 Aug 11:30)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Firstly, a big thank you to Pista for hosting the GW2 thread on TCC, and a big thank you to all those IGM players who crossed-over. :notworthy:

Myself and Pista are virgins at this - as it's never been done before - but we're learning GW by GW.

As for IGM, we come into GW3 with a slender 26pts lead which is nothing at this stage of the season.

Kudos goes to new signing Schmed who bullied his way to the top (in a Diego Costa type stylee), Nikolas Vitus Lagartija (who responded to the hair-dryer ) and Mav787.

There's some tricky fixtures this GW. They'll all end in 0-0, or 5-5.

Such is the beauty of FPL, and the fickleness of Lady Luck.

Good luck all!

Second that. Top job everyone & nice to see you popping into Terrace Talk to discuss........pies

I think I have my team locked & loaded, but still time for at least 3 of my key players to declare they are mortally wounded.
Good luck all.
:D

edit. @schmed I hope you've washed this

with Giroud out till january with an ankle injury and Dzeko looking doubtful i've been forced to adopt a temporary 4-5-1 formation.
hopefully Dzeko will make it but Giroud's got to be next week's transfer. still, last GW got me 50 points -a marked improvement. and i've gone up in all my leagues....currently 10th in ours so i'm fairly happy. 8)

Think I'm getting the hang of this FPL business, which roughly translates to 'think I need to transfer these red shirted geezers I've got in my side'. Even De Gea sadly, eventually, no chance of clean sheets at the mo' with the headless chickens running around in front of him. All being well things will improve as the season progresses, but for the sake of my FPL team and HLs standing in the goth-off with Pista's backcombed rabble, squad changes are afoot. I binned 5 players yesterday before spotting the dirty big minus points score for over-transferring. Makes sense but it took the wind out of my sails temporarily.

It's all a bit weird though innit, finding oneself shouting at MOTD in celebration when Ramsey plays another blinder. WTF is that all about?

Looking forward to see another huge clash during this weekend. Everton vs. Chelsea will be especially important for me, as I have lot of players from both sides. Hard to predict any long term pattern at least until the middle of October... 8)

it's like having a wank over someone you wouldn't breathe on in the real world but without whom the fantasy falls apart...

Oh and I accepted the 4-point penalty for transferring Giroud out this week rather than risking him dropping still further in value. A decision I may come to regret...

Yep Lee, it's exactly like that  feel filthy afterwards too.

PiB, erm, no scouse (I think), but there might be one or two citeh in there. Think I can just about accept that some of them are good players, and it kinda softens the blow of them strolling to another title if they can help me indirectly along the way. Ish. But that's where it ends, I'd be quite happy to see Dzeko in particular go for a 50-50 header and end up dead, no problem

Yeah.
Reverted to a 4-4-2 this week, although one of my strikers will likely be swapped at the last minute.
*sets alarm for early tomorrow* ;D

Dzeko is match-fit (sorry Dave! ) which means i can go back to 4-4-2 and stick johnson back on the bench.

i'm stuck with Giroud as well; unlike mark i didn't want to lose any points but it hadn't actually occurred to me that players might lose value in FPL.... i mean, it's not as if anyone else buys them from you. :?:

oh well, tinkering done. good luck everybody!. 8)

The reason to ignore him is that he's been rubbish ever since his last year at Liverpool.

I saw some of the footage of when LFC destroyed Real Madrid 4-0 in 2009. He was a brilliant player back then. So sad to watch his demise.

Had a couple of crocks (Nolan and Giroud) so have had to use up both of my free transfers.
Gambling big on City to tank lacklustre Stoke and on a high-scoring QPR v Sunderland game. Everton - Chelsea looks hard to call so have booted all four of their players to the bench including my talisman Ivanovic so shop-window Rémy gets the armband in possibly his last game for the (ahem) Super Hoops.
