Awesome g**h songs by non-g**h artists

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Too many early Simple Minds songs to mention. Pretty much anything up to and including the monumental New Gold Dream. For now, let's have This Fear of Gods (which I regard as a kind of prototype of New Gold Dream.)

Similarly with Scott Walker. Even Eldritch says that My Death is one of his favourite g**h songs. I advise every Sisters fan to get a hold of Climate of Hunter. I listened to this album 33 times consecutively (no joke and I kept count) when I bought it, on impulse. It's short and sweet. Here are tracks 5 and 7 called....Track 5 and Track 7. No prizes for guessing which is which.

If you like Bowie circa Let's Dance, esp. Criminal World and Cat People, I'm sure you'll love these. Actually, I'll add those two tracks to the list as well.

The Walker Brothers' finest hour:

Baby it's slow - When the lights go low - There's no help no
He's drilling thru the Spiritus Sanctus tonight
Through the dark hip falls screaming, Oh you mambos
Kill me and kill me and kill me
If I jerk the handle you'll die in your dreams
If I jerk the handle jerk the handle, jerk the handle
You'll thrill me and thrill me and thrill me
Baby it's slow when the lights go low there's no help no

Also Gold Dust Woman, Blasphemous Rumours and I'd go with Domino parts I and II for my Genesis tip!

David Bowie - Nite Flights (Scott Walker cover way, way better than the original.)

A bit early yet but still, the only Christmas song I like (even if I don't agree with it):

Unless we count

I tip my eyebrow concordantly about The Electrician, czuczu.

Yeah, and

Cliff Richard - Devil Woman

Insists my inner Rik Mayall. We all have one.

Another one:

Suede - We Are The Pigs

If I was 17 when Suede were big, they might have been my favourite band. I dunno. The only thing that, perhaps, bothers me about them is that they're very London.

COCKNEY REBEL - SEBASTIAN

I am not sure whether this qualified but I find it overblown, pompous, indecipherable and rather compulsive - so it ticks some of the boxes

at the time, a 10 best things interview, he said he had two copies, as anything that good should be owned twice ~ something like that anyway
