Who are the best Sisters substitute?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I defy anyone to tell me Vision Thing is superior to Elyzium with a straight face..but then again FALAA slaps The Nephilim around the face with it's glans.
Swings and roondaboots.

I actually didn't mind The Merry Thoughts cover of Hazel O' Connor's "Will You?". If I didn't know better I'd have said it was Old Sarky Sourpuss Misanthropy himself dusting off the vocal chords on it. My beloved Neffs have a similar complete rip-off band called Garden of Delight who don't have an original bone in their body. I wonder if there's a Mish clone band?
Yes they do, the main one was Funhouse from Sweden i think.
Finnish Gothsters HIM have made no secret of their admiration for Wayne and the gang,a few years ago in Kerrang magazine, when asked if they were surprised at the success of their current single (the name of which escapes me I'm afraid) the singer Ville Valo admitted that he was surprised, because the song was "just another of our rip offs of The m*****n"

Are there any other known remixes by Eldritch? (or other Sisters)

Substitute? definetly The Merry Thoughts, they are a cynical copycat band but their songs are cool, many of them sound like "lost" Sisters songs

The Swedish band Kent. Turns out they're groovy as hell. Not just as a Sisters substitute, either, but there is some common sensibility.

Sounds a bit like Heroes Del Silencio in Swedish to me

Ha ha, well. I like them.

On second thought, it is a lot lighter musically than the Sisters so maybe not to the tastes here, but I think there's something similar about it.

...so my favourite substitutes where Ghost Dance and "1995 And Nowhere". I even like "Pretty Black Dots" even though or maybe because it´s different. Gary Marx IS my favourite songwriter.

Some stuff by R.E.M. hits the Sisters spot, as well.

Have a listen to anything by Insight of Trinity if you can find it. Awesome lyrics.
