FPL GW17: Preview, update and review (Deadline 20Dec 11:30)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

Did you go Kane or Carroll? I've shipped Shrek for Rev. Kane.

Today's Dream Team contains a lot of unfamiliar faces (anyone got Yoshida? Sessegnon? Reid? Thought not), but am hoping some more predictable fixtures on Boxing Day will lead to a better points return than today. Need to change my misfiring front three before then (a one point cumulative total from three players FFS).

Can myself or Graham (Mav787) assist in any way? That's what we're here for.

My advice is look at the points scored by the top scoring player in each position:

GK - 68
DEF - 84
MID - 107
FWD - 105 (Aguero), 2nd best 88 (Austin)

This should tell you which position your captain should be playing in.

I have about 6 or so still to play.
Hopefully I'll claw back a couple of places in the table with them.
Yesterday was a washout for me.
Cheers.

Hoping for a 0-0 for the northeast derby, and a big win for Chelsea.

Already made my transfers for week 18 before week 17 is over. 8)

Interesting stats, esp as last season's top points scorer was also a midfielder. That's why I stuck with YaYa Touré for the first few rounds before ditching him just before he re found his form. I've had better luck trying to spot defenders likely to get a clean sheet bonus (hopefully another one for Ivanovic tonight) than strikers/midfielders likely to get goals/assists, so have tended to keep the armband at the back.I see that you and Johnny both have Austin, so he's on my shopping list for this week.

Bit dissapointed with my last night's showing.
Costa was a real let down & I'm worried about Hazard, although he's lucky not to have his leg broken by Bardsley in the first half.
Best go & dig out the pencil now.... :innocent:
Cheers.

I did very well out of last night's match but I have to admit that I'd forgotten the game was even on as I was totally engrossed in a fantastic performance at Hammersmith Odeon.

I might even have to sign for the opposition next season (only joking Johnny!)

Wilgy (Faith Rovers) was there last night sending the live set updates in & I was keeping him up to date on the match (he's a Stoke fan)
Cheers.

Guess what ... I punt Agbonlahor because he has a three match ban, only for the red card to be rescinded
Get down Ladbrokes and back him as first goalscorer on Boxing Day.

I was reading that today.
IIRC though it won't reflect in his points tally in the FPL.
Although I may be wrong.

And so it came to pass...

The Sisters 535 - 603 The Cure

GW17 Differential: +68 The Cure

Overall differential: +205 The Sisters

The Yellow Jersey is retained by Charlotte's Carnage (GOD) and the Big Shout Out award goes to FC Bennweg-Zeis 1921 (Johnny Rev 7.0) with a respectable 88. :)

Eleven Imaginary Boys record their third win on the spin as Industrial Groove Machine seem to be faltering. :(

Well done EIB. :notworthy:

Just a gentle reminder that the GW18 deadline is Friday 26Dec 11:30 (or Boxing Day in old money). Keep on your toes.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and a very Merry Christmas to you all!

I'll now hand you back to the [s]studio[/s] shed in Hungary...

Another away win.
Phew! :)
I really thought we'd lost it when I looked at the table this morning.
Some astute alice band choices added some hefty scoring into the mix this week.
The shed's a little empty tonight as many of them are at the Apollo, but I'm sure they'll have a party tomorrow (when they have shaken off their hangovers)

Great job all & have a big ol' festive good one. :notworthy: :notworthy:
See you all on the 26th.
Cheers.

Come on IGM it's time to step up otherwise those Cure types are going to beat us.

A comparison (ignoring points taken away for transfers) of the top 4 scores for each team for the week is:

Sisters - 289
Cure - 277

But for the other 7 teams it is:

Sisters - 266
Cure - 334

We need the teams at the bottom to step up as you got a serious battering this week by those Cure teams.

bottom 4 for each team:

i know we're on the same side but anyone can number crunch.

If your numbers were correct then the scores would have been:

Sisters 410 + 170 = 580
Cure 433 + 155 = 588

Which they clearly weren't so

I'm not sure I like the direction this seems to be heading. Probably time this one was locked anyway.
