Best versions of all "new" songs? * * UPDATE 3

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Thanks, this was helpful:

Although, with the recent gigs being so good, you might be best served by sifting through some of the newer bootlegs yourself, like M'Era Luna for Rain From Heaven, and Stockholm and the Roundhouse for Arms and Summer and for all around grooviness. There are good versions of Romeo Down on youtube as well, like the ones from Event Horizon and Dresden 2001, or if you can find Budapest 2009 in the sharing section that's a great one too.
I have excellent recordings of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Lund, and as they're all up there with the New Haven remaster I did a few years ago quality wise (which I use as a baseline), they're all candidates. [/quote]

The meanest version of Capricorn, in my opinion, is the one performed on 26 February 2001 in Germany. I would suggest using this.

These new songs are so fckn good, it'd be amazing to hear them recorded properly without the words barked, grunted and yelped as has now become the Sisters live scene standard.

Many thanks for this list! If you have time (I realize it's a tall order!) to dig out and provide me with files or links to recordings, I'd love to go through them to compare and narrow down the candidates.

I totally agree. You pretty much nail my motivation for this project.

I'm so pissed off that they refuse to record and release this great material, even more so now, when crowdfunding such a project (with profit included) would be so simple (and profiting even further by selling directly to fans at gigs and through the web would also be a no brainer).

Negotiating a release with previous members who wrote songs can't be impossibly difficult, either, especially not if they get a cut.

I wonder what AE is so afraid of. I would go crazy being in a band like that. Oh well... here I go again.

Will I Dream 2? Is this a different version?

This is a spare time (what precious little spare time I have) project that probably will take quite some time to finish.

What are a couple of decades for a hardened Sisters fan? ;-)

Seriously, I have my hopes up to beat Von to the clock on this one.

Isn't it a shame that there are more covers in the list (15) than originals (10)?

And most of them are pretty darn short too.

A lot of those covers were one-offs or just played at most a handful of times. Of those regularly in the set, I'd list:

Comfortably Numb/Some Kind Of Stranger
Gift That Shines
Pipeline
Misirlou

The originals list is missing:

We are the same, Susanne

(Probably because of the official Share years ago).
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Possibly, 25 years after the last official release it is more of a shame that some are still ... complaining ...  ...

Well, ok. Never give up hope. Me neither ... 8) ...
