I have these on a couple of releases myself, but I've not yet found the 2 tracks available in stereo, which is odd.
Are stereo versions available somewhere that I haven't looked? (ie Youtube, Echoes CD, Poison Door Records 7")
Whistle Test Performance
I think you'd be hard pushed to find it in true stereo (unless you have the original reels from the Beeb's archive).
It was taken from the BBC2 Whistle Test broadcast & the Beeb didn't start Nicam Stereo broadcasts until quite a while after that.
You can (if you're brave) "mock" a stereo effect with audacity though. Just drag the right channel along a few milliseconds compared to the left channel & it'll create a slightly wider image.

I was afraid you'd say something this - broadcast was in mono, as opposed to the VCR not be up to the job.
The Whistle Test vids that I do have in stereo are from modern DVD releases.
Was OGWT not sold on to the European cable networks, or did they come later too?
Oh, and finally. Apart the Peter's Pop Show performance, is this the only live studio appearance?

Yeah it was mono
But even when they did begin broadcasting in nicam stereo, there weren't too many VCRs within the reach of "Joe Public".
I (& I suspect a fair few others) was hoping they would include that performance on the recent Goth At The BBC show instead of a bunch of TOTP clips.
In all honesty, if I was I would have added it to the Wake video as an extra.
