well now: that was disappointing.

The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

I'll say this for it: it really does give me a new appreciation for Andrew's vocal delivery. Andrew's performance is nuanced and subtle, and a response to both the content of the lyric and the general form in which it's written. I don't think Prong does that. There's no sense that the vocalist actually understands what the words mean, what the song is about, or what it might be trying to say as a whole. Consequently, there's no real sense of investment in the lyrics. I suppose that's always going to be a risk when you're dealing with a cover, but it doesn't have to be the case. I did check out a few other songs from that record that I'm familiar with: I think that my general critique would be the same.
Andrew's obsessive attention to detail-in-delivery on the vocal on VT is what really makes it work. Prong's vocal sounds like an afterthought.

Ever longed to hear More as reimagined for a modern-day MTV adaptation of Wuthering Heights? Me too!
Steinman.
Steinman produced a cover of the song, by Mike Vogel and Erika Christensen, for the soundtrack of the MTV film Wuthering Heights.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3bxc2haFnYWuthering Heights is a modern-day adaptation of the classic novel that aired on MTV in 2003 and was later released on DVD. It stars Erika Christensen, Mike Vogel, Christopher Masterson, Katherine Heigl, John Doe, and Aimee Osbourne.[1] The screenplay was by Max Enscoe and Annie deYoung, from an original screenplay by Jim Steinman and Patricia Knop. Although set in California, the filming location was Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico.

Wonderful. Your vocals do no harm. The video, err .. looks almost surreal ... ... one can only love it or hate it, I guess ... ...lordofthepies wrote:Recorded this with a friend last week, not very good but that's just the way it is.....

This was the original that I ripped https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnspfa8h5p0
While searching for it just now I found that some bastard stole my idea before I even had it, The Cramps - Ultra Twist

I don't know if it negates the need for drugs or renders them essential.

Very, very interesting thread!
Enjoyed Superchunk and Kiss The Anus ... a lot actually.
Never knew there were so many absolutely foul industrial/goth/metal versions of Sisters tracks out there.
Lambchop still way in the lead for me.

I started doing this cover of Floorshow over the Christmas holidays and finally got to finish it with a friend a couple of weeks ago.

Actually i like it. Only thing i would change to this is not using the voice delay effect on some points.lordofthepies wrote:I started doing this cover of Floorshow over the Christmas holidays and finally got to finish it with a friend a couple of weeks ago.

i avoid this thread mostly as i have made no secret of despising covers of sisters' songs almost without exception. just dipping into this page does little to change that -Gregorian More and Edith Crash's Marian being almost instant turn-off's (didnt even bother with the reggae TOL ) but i did want to commend lordofthepies for his very faithful versions , especially Floorshow which is a really good effort. love the drum-machine programming.

Thanks man, that's appreciated. I've tried on numerous occasions to replicate the drum patterns for Floorshow and always failed miserably. Mr Eldritch's skills are something to behold.

especially when you consider the primitve technology he was limited to at the time. the dr. rhythm has so little memory its unbeivable that he manged to programme a whole Sisters' set into one (and we are constantly assured the Doktor has never been a backing track).lordofthepies wrote:Thanks man, that's appreciated. If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.
That is a nice cover. Something original, as cover should be.Being645 wrote:Marian -Edith Crash
