MWIS FORUM DEAD!

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

At least it looks to be. Hardly surprising as absolutely nothing gets posted there these days. I guess thats showbiz....

The whole site's down by the looks of it.
Odd as the registration's valid until 2018.
Maybe they got attacked by a cheap kitchen sales bot.

Unless you mean this MWIS.
That one still seems to be active ;D
Cheers.

www.themissionuk.com

Redirects to a holding page from their hosting company.

That usually happens if a) the hosting company f**k up the DNS settings; b) their server has had a serious technical fault and they're struggling to rebuild & restore it; or c) the MWIS haven't paid their hosting costs.

I've seen (a) and (b) happen to friends' sites before, so my money is on that.

Website's back up (there were technical problems apparently) but forum isn't up and running yet.
Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

No great loss, and I say that as a huge fan of The Mishun . It was a very underused (and outmoded *) forum anyway and most of the regular contributers simple use the Facebook page instead.

The Mish don't really need MWIS other than as a link to their store as they have embraced social media, specifically FB.

Simon posts tour blogs which are well written and interesting.

Wayne regularly posts under the band name and the fan base are kept well informed of what the band is up to.

No putting up tour dates, taking them down, putting a date for the reannouncement and then ignoring it for them.

This is one area where there really is no comparison between the 2 bands.

Most forums are on their arse these days due to them being overtaken by FB, twatter et al, I don't think anybody uses them like they did ten years ago. Relatively speaking, this forum is pretty busy really. Ironic.

I much prefer this rather groovy place. There's some decorum here (well apart from the YCBTO controversy!). Some of the stuff I've read on Sisters FB groups has been really juvenile at best and downright nasty at worst. I like it here. Long may it last! :notworthy:

I second that thought. Most forums I've been on have inevitably led to asshattery. This one, for the most part, has not. Which must be do in most part to you fine chaps (and chappies). :notworthy:

Yep, I think most people these days can't be arsed registering with numerous, separate forums for all the bands that they like. Joining loads of groups under the FB umbrella is much easier.

The Charlatans ditched the forum on their website a few years ago, when the revamped their official website much to the annoyance of the regular posters but at the end of the day threads on their FB page do get miles more comments than the forum did towards the end, exactly the same with the Mish & FOTN tbh.

It's horses for courses.
As someone who has recently joined it, FB is great for those who enjoy posting photos and links to YouTube (or having someone else doing this for them if they can't be bothered to search for them themselves), and for keeping vaguely up to date with multiple bands (as @Spiggy's Hat said.
But it's hard to get any kind of discussion going amongst all the "froth", and posts disappear off the bottom of the page in a matter of hours.
For a band with a significant number of hardcore followers, there should be room for both.

"Most people" does NOT include me! I will not go to f***book and have myself followed on every step I take in life and stored every word and move I take online - and offline along some mobile sending steady signals - only for the sake of my liking of any band or issue.

But of course, as YOU are followed, they also store your words on here - and my reply. And neither you nor me can make them delete it from their archives. Next step in developments is the exclusion of everybody from basic structures who does not agree to be relentlessly observed ... *shiver in disgust !!! ...

And, as everybody knows, they already have tested on manipulating the communication between "friends" ...
