gin is vile. tonic is even more vile. but if you get the mix right they cancel out each other's nastiness taste wise ..add a drop of lemon, or lime and hey presto.

i wouldn't bother, but the buzz of gin is unique and makes me very cheery/naughty/amused. i love rum but it makes me wildly devil-may-care and far TOO naughty. whisky (all kinds) makes me dark, moody and either violently nasty or nastily violent. cheap vodka is yucky and blue smirnoff is as well unless mixed with proper orange juice...making it very expensive....and brandy makes me fall asleep.

which leaves tequila -my favourite and the only alcoholic drink that doesnt work as a depressant, but as a stimulant- which will eventually make me chunder helplessly/bankrupt/both/naked in a tree wondering why the c**t with the pneumatic drill doesnt f**k off and work in someone else's head

Hi, you're right about the chaos. I'm glad I attended, though.
In the end almost everybody played apart from the 3 belgian bands. But I was very sad that FOTN decided not to play for free.
They were my mainreason for the excursion and I didn't have enough on me to make it worth their while.....

Sounds like both bands and fans left in a difficult situation. After the Alt Fest debacle in the UK last year, bands will be wary of new/resurrected festivals and the future looks bleak for such ventures.

You're spot on. Other belgian festivals of the dark genre have bitten the dust...Sinner's day after 3 editions, Shadowplay (where I last saw FOTN) after the 1st edition...dark times, my friends...

If organisers would be a little more wary of trying to aim too high, this stuff would not happen.

Resurrect all you want, you know the goffs like a good resurrection now and then, but start small, one day festival, couple of big names, and local talent.

And by the way, Sinners' Day and Eurorock is mostly the same people. Coincidence? Think not.

This stinks.

Worked all 3 days for Eurorock with the stage crew. Behind the screens, it was utter and complete chaos on the last day. Although knowing that we woudn't get payed, the crews decided to stay, so the remaining bands could deliver. Excellent gigs from Killing Joke, Anathema, Legend and Hooky.

well done to all those - crews, security, police etc - who pulled together to see it through. From the clips I've seen on YT, the crowd were remarkably good-tempered when some of the bad news was being announced.

For what it's worth: great festival

Nah, it's a shame things got so messed up and it certainly is not the first time this happens (for this organisation, but Alt Fest too of course etc), but a lot of people took it upon them to stay and figure out ways to get on with it and in the end I've seen more than a few VERY good gigs that Saturday (Portion Control, Absolute Body Control, Crash Course In Science and the rulers of them all the mighty Killing Joke!) so me too, very happy I was there.

Very sorry though for people like Scardy & Domingo who travelled many a mile for a band that pulled out of it...

For what it's worth: The band wanted to play, but McCoy pulled the plug. Part of their wages had been payed in advance, their costs were covered ...

Nah, that's certainly part of the story..but the full truth?
Other sources say that caterers and such people couldn't get paid before the actual theft of the money. And why did they say that the fest was sold out weeks ahead of the beginning? It certainly wasn't....was it scam topped off with a theft by a third party? Of course I wasn't behind the scenes and I guess we'll never know anyway.....ah well.

Yep, I'm one of these desperate arses that went and bought the FOTN tour t-shirt (Eurorock and Leipzig) as soon as it was "officially" announced that FOTN were going to play...
