Vive Le Rock

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Cool. Thanks for the heads up.

Should we have a "what will Von say" prediction game?

I'll start....I think :von: 'll at long last own up to being a Goth's eccentric uncle

I suspect :von: will say nothing earth-shattering. Would love John Robb to interview him for the new paper version of Louder Than War, Vive Le Rock's new offshoot.

It'll just be more of the same old mysterious, elusive bollocks.

I thought the last time when they spread it over 2 issues was just a rip off. Nothing new to be said at all.

The days when I got excited about the public utterances of :von: are long gone.

My prediction:

The album will be finished some time next year, followed by the first North American Sisters tour in years.

And he'll talk about how much he loves his fans and wants to be more connected to us.

First of all, I don't think that is interview with :von: himself but with Robochrist. Second, as some of you mentioned above: nothing new. Anyhow, I'll wait for some fragments spread here, as I'll not buy this magazine.

Oh, ok, I don't use fArsebook at work, besides I didn't "like" VLR. Anyhow, nothing new to be said, I guess it's just a typical press/promo duty before tour.

The Vive Le Rock interview last Summer was with Von, though not in person but on phone, I think that’s obvious from the contents. Chris could not have made certain remarks instead of Von, as they were so intimate (e.g. that his girlfriend was next to Von during the interview). Last July I exchanged a few pms with the editor of the magazine and they made it clear that the interview had been with Von indeed and it was not made up from pieces. I think that would be the situation now too.

Good, good for them. Waiting to read about nothing really new that we didn't read before.

That quote was from the editor of VLR. Its his job to sell magazines.

The readership will decide if it was cracking or not.

But I'm not shooting you as the messenger. :D

Last time they got fans to submit photos !
People have to remember that VLR has quite a small circulation, and doesn't have the resources of a Mojo for example. It only sells 10% of what the NME was selling thirty years ago, but has proved resilient in a competitive market where the internet is a major threat, and many titles have failed, because of the excellence of their coverage and the passion of this journalists.
VLR may not feature as much of "our kind of music" as many would like (even though there is a nice feature on John Ashton's Satellite Paradiso in the current edition) but it is currently the only British media outlet with any interest in TSOM.
Give them a break !

I buy every issue but its been struggling of late to get acts from the alternative scene.

I just thought that the Sisters articles were particularly poor.

Some of their other stuff is quite good.

I wait for that day Von will appear in a German WDR show, those kind of shows recorded in sunny Holiday resorts.

he's going to say a big sorry to the goths for being in denial and announce the release of a new album with free "through the years" compilation live dvd to make up for it.

I'm pretty sure :von: is going to invite all of us (the true fans) over to his lair for Christmas. We'll all get copies of the new album(s)/live dvd - wrapped in crushed velvet.

He may even be dressed as Santa Claus (but that's a whole other fantasy)
