But as @dinkydaisy points out in the OP, one which has been sold openly by reputable record stores who would never normally stock bootlegs. Very curious.

No, this is a bootleg of Chinese origin, apparently. Note the slash between East and West, not the same as the Warner company, but close enough to fool some people.dinky daisy wrote:It's an East West album, owned by Warner, no?

Somewhat, but these are different releases. This thread is on the first one, basically ...godgirl wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 15:26 It's now on Rough Trade's catalog online but not in stock.

Anyway, it surely is the very same recording as on the other Melkweg 1984 bootlegs ...

I bought my copy at Amoeba in Los Angeles, also a reputable store. Wonder if this release benefits from the same loophole as some Italian CD boots in the 90s which were legal based on Italian copyright law as long as the producers would pay publishing rights to the collection agency...godgirl wrote: ↑21 Jul 2021, 15:26 It's now on Rough Trade's catalog online but not in stock.

As for the Chinese origin of this bootleg, I doubt it. Probably a way to mislead the RIAA.
