I have slept with all the girls in Berlin

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I suspect a gentleman's obligations may be slightly relaxed in cases where the 'lady' is none too discreet herself?

Only fair...

So he didn't then. See, if he had it could have meant slander. That's probaby why Collins brushed over it so quickly. Whatever.

I think AE is far too clever to commit slander, and implied that he 'knew' a certain person 'quite well' or some such euphemism.

In any case, even if he had said 'I slept with Barbara Ellen' it wouldn't have been slander unless it denigrated her character in some way.

And even then, it wouldn't become an issue unless she chose to deny it. And I don't know why she would, anyway, although she might think he was being a little ungentlemanly.

I shall stop now, because I'm confusing myself.
Chris
