Floodland MFSL 2013

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

Sorry if this is a repeat, but nothing came up in the forum search for this one.

I just picked this up, mostly as a "what they heck" thing, but realized the track times are different and it sounds way different than the remaster from Rhino Records.

1 Dominion/MR [7:47]
2 Flood I [6:19]
3 Lucretia [4:54]
4 1959 [4:09]
5 This Corrosion [11:08]
6 Flood II [6:44]
7 Driven [6:24]
8 Never Land [2:42]

Just took the plunge on this!

Was going to do it a year ago but thought it had sold out.

Anyone know how long to expect it to be shipped to the UK? I went for the standard shipping option... Can't wait!

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

It's certainly been transferred. Unfortunately my copy is a little noisy, I'll see what I can do.

Any more of that and we'll be round your front door with the quick-setting whitewash and the shaved monkey.

:D Some of those have been somewhat superseded by the recent Rhino high-res remasters, but I think the early pre-WEA EPs sound better than what's officially available. I need to add my needledrop of Body Electric!

Pat,

Thanks for the advice (but too late!). Wasn't aware of that website.

I don't really mind the wait as I've been deliberating for a year or so... but apparently there might be tax due on the import which would be a bummer. Hopefully I'm fortunate on that front.

It arrived today!!! (and I'm currently making a hash of recording it... onto... MiniDisc )

WaveLab doesn't want to work on my laptop... does anyone have a suitable recommendation of software for making a digital copy? My 26 year old turntable is doing a fine job though

Not the best but very easy to use .

Includes some denoise/declick tools but avoid them or use very sparingly.

Gives you full functionality for 15days

Thanks, Pat!

I got some funny looks from the wife when I dusted off the turntable after... years... but the purchase was worth it just for the 20 extra seconds or so of Mother Russia.

The MiniDisc rip went well in the end, will get it on the laptop soon...

Of course the xtra bits on Dominion are note-worthy, but there's a few more surprises in store for you.
