Where the hell is Sister Ray?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

It might be me but I really do wonder what the hell happened to the Sister Ray/Louie Louie/Ghost rider/ Silver Machine etc...medleys. I for one always loved those 20+ mins of mayhem. Because that rocked IMHO.

Hmmmmm, I was never a fan of it to be honest. Would much prefer to hear one or maybe two more of their own songs instead.

Same with The Mish, when they used to stretch Shelter from the Storm to 10 minutes plus with loads of dodgy ad-libs.

I loved both of those :notworthy:

I think the last spontaneous thing Sisters did was Capricorn (S I recall) at the first sugar rock...

Mish @ Reading 89 was up there in terms of musical events I've seen

Actually, a medley like that would be enough for me to buy a concert ticket, rather than the usual mediocre suspects

I like the 80's Sister Ray/Louie Louie/etc medleys but the few times it was played in the 90s/2000's don't come close. Musically I thought they were a featureless dirge with none of the splendour of the 80's versions.

I think in the 80's it was 4 guys paying homage to bands that they loved & who had inspired them.
Come the 90's/ noughties it was a band covering 4 guys paying homage to bands that they loved & who had inspired them.
It sort of stops working I think
Cheers.

When they did it in 92 we were completely blown away!

I'm looking forward already to Ben's little solos in the 2016 version :innocent:
