RIP PETE BURNS (DEAD OR ALIVE)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

i just saw this on the news. another one chalked up to 2016 as diego says. it's mostly just coincidental generational die-off i know but still....

i can't say i was a huge Dead Or Alive fan but i had no problem with Pete. he was so gloriously outrageous and as rock'n'roll as a pop star can be. he was even quite good-looking before his plastic surgery disaster.
RIP.

He ran a record shop before he was famous & if he didn't like what you were wearing he wouldn't serve you

Saw DOA once & thought they were pretty good.
Once again, fcuk you 2016

Absolutely devastated

He was a true legend and a real inspiration for us young punks and goths in Liverpool.

I have so many wonderful memories and stories but too shocked and sad at this news to barely speak.

Rest in Peace Pete :notworthy:

Very saddened by this news. I remember him well on TV in the 80's, being his talented and fabulous self, and he did it so well. RIP Pete, and yes this year has taken some of the best.

I'm not sure I've any idea what to say at this stage. This year has taken so much from us. RIP to another genuine entertainer.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

More very sad news. Some lovely tributes already coming from Merseyside and elsewhere, including a great one from Mr Keenan on Facebook.

I saw DOA in 1985 I thought they were jolly good. Of their recorded output "Sophisticated Boom Boom" still gets a certain amount of play.

Very sad news. RIP.

Quite often star quality has nothing to do with how many records you've sold or what movies you've appeared in and Peter Burns epitomised this.

He was just so sweet and tough ... ;D ... at least we were lucky enough to enojy his existence during our lifetime ...

Sometimes the Thump just nails it.
NewsThump wrote:By simply not giving the faintest crap what other people thought of him or his actions Burns gave others the confidence and power to express themselves in ways they otherwise would not have dreamed, and it is that simple contribution that is his finest legacy and it is to be hoped there’s a special place where complete weirdos congregate in the afterlife, as he’ll fit right in.

The last thing Pete would want is for people to be too sad at the news of his death. That would make him spin in his grave.

I quite liked the early DoA music from '82 and '83 - have The Stranger and Number Eleven 7" even now.
Pete was a real inspiration in how he looked - somewhere between Daniel Ash and Boy George, which defined a certain moment in time.

Right round like a record baby.

Edit: Oh, they made that joke already.
