The fog at Sister's gigs - quick question

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. I'm assuming either dry ice or smoke but it would be good to know which before next week (and whether anyone has ever had breathing issues with it)

Thank you. My husband was actually poring over that article earlier this week but since we don't know if it's dry ice, liquid nitrogen or liquid air that TSOM use he couldn't draw any conclusions.

Previously I never concerned myself with details like these but then I didn't have asthma back then, and dry ice in particular is a potential trigger, whatever about the rest.

Definetly not dry ice. Dry ice acts differently than fog

not dry ice but smoke-machine fluid heated up. perfectly safe content wise (i've known dickhead ravers drink it by accident and not die) but asthma sufferers - well asthma sufferers should always carry an inhaler regardless. so yes safe.
DEFINITELY not liquid nitrogen; as that would cool you down nicely . :lol:

husband has asthma and never had issues at the Sisters' gigs, also yesterday we really had a lot, standing in front and no problems....hope that helps

Thank you that is good to hear.

EMWK It was dry ice I was concerned about so that is reassuring. I will have my inhalers of course, especially in this weather.

Good to know that they aren't using pest control quantities on us :D :D

it tends to be venues and their fire-alarms that limit smoke/dry-ice usgae. certainly the sisters are the last to do much except generate more out of stubborn bloody-mindedness! you know yourself that heat/humidity alone can make the air dangerous to asthmatics so really if you feel you're starting to struggle hit the salbutamol or whhatever and move to where the air is breathable. my ex had severe life-threatening asthma and was as likely to have an attack from someone wearing too much perfume as smoke/dry-ice to be honest.

Always good to have a plan. I've been there with the perfumes too, but it's scented candles that really do me in. No worries on that score gig wise though I don't think it's a scented candle kind of show. :D

I was reading somewhere that dry ice is used much less frequently these days, partly because of the risk of injury (that stuff will burn you like a mother) but also because it's a bugger to store unless you've got access to high-end freezers. A bottle of fogger, on the other hand, has a pretty much limitless shelf-life, and you can make it smell pretty too (although I wonder if :von: has ever considered adding nicotine to it in order to get around the anti-smoking laws in some venues - I can just see him on the phone to Vape-O-Matic, "Yes, we need some eJuice, strongest you've got. How much? I don't know, about 50 litres should get us through the evening.")
