who's met Eldritch?

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I did briefly in London 2001. Got his autograph and chatted. Surprised how short he is. I'm 5ft and he seemed a little taller than myself!!

One thing he told me he's scared of horses!!!

No I don't want your empty Vodka bottle!!

Anyone else met him on here? Nice to hear stories!?

Happy New Year to you all

Can't say I technically met him, but we did run into him outside the pub in NYC after a gig maybe 10 years ago. Can't remember which tour - Hypernova were supporting, if that helps. They were getting on the bus (to Philly, maybe Pittsburgh?) he said "Thanks for coming."

-Didn't get to meet him, but *did* meet most of the rest of the band after waiting for over an hour in frigid drizzle post-show in Boston, March 1991.

He, sans shades, smiled at me through the tour bus's windshield, though. ;D

-He also handed me his laptop to pass to the rest of the front-row denizens during the show in New Haven, CT, that took place during the evening of the 2008 US Presidential Election...

I met him before the second Blank Canvas gig in Leeds 2003.

I told how much I liked the songs.

He talked about cats and going on holiday after the tour.

I didn't ask about the new album and I didn't tell him it was all his fault (in 2003 I recieved a PhD in pharmacology from the University of Leeds and I know I wasn't the only person on THAT course inspired by Ths Sisters, SID!).

Cheers,

Only met him twice.... rather briefly in Tilburg in 2005..had a little chat, managed to take some pics and get a setlist signed. The 2nd time was the first night in Leeds in 2011 which I still have very fond memories of. Perfect night out....be it a bit blurry at the end...for the obvious reasons. :von: :)

Miss Kittycat and I met AE before the Leeds gig last year. He seemed to be generally entertained by the scene around him. And was friendly and amused when I blurted out "I've wanted to meet you for more than 30 years, this is the best moment of my life!" To which :von: replied "you'll feel differently in a couple of hours."

I've been in a daze every since, have gained super powers and can only write in green ink.

I think I'm the only guy never to have met Eldritch.

Or as I think of it, he's never met me.

I've posted this tale before but...

Scene: Joseph's Well, Leeds, after the Near Meth Experience gig back in 2005:

As I was (rather drunkenly) saying goodbye to one and all, I spotted Eldritch lurking nearby and blurted out something along the lines of "Can I get a goodbye kiss from you too?" to which he replied "That's the second-best offer I've had all night!" ;D

That's funny!! I chatted to him about Ely as I used to live nearby and horses. Then he replied "My gf will hate you if she sees me chatting to you"

Mind you his gf Miss Detroit was a stunner. So really she had nothing to worry about!! lol True

I've posted this before as well.

After one of the 30th anniversary shows myself and the former Hom_Corleone were having a drink and a yap, like you do. Across the room we see Von himself talking to a few people. So emboldened by beer I approach him and say "hello Mr Eldritch". He promptly announces "I'm off" and flees!
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Met him after the Leeds 30th anniversary gigs. He was very pleasant and signed the postcards they gave to people there. :)

Met him a few times, sometimes nice..sometimes grumpy... like a normal person can be :P

Outside Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle in Berlin 91 he was handling out flyers for the supportband, only a few persons saw that it was really him :P Kinda funny.

In UTR they mention that he invited some fans that spent the night, at the trainstation for breakfast with him. Top Bloke, if you ask me.

First time I met him was many moons ago in a pub near Leeds Uni, he chuckled darkly as his then girlfriend destroyed me at pool. I did get compliments though for my Hawkwind tee-shirt and cheesecloth shirt combo.

Did he have shades on/off in the pub? Never would recognise him without shades!! Bloody hell this is a long time ago!
