First And Last (and always)

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

As we're all sat around waiting for the rest of the 2017 tour dates with nothing better to do than choose our Mish tour venues, I have a question...

What were the first and last times you saw TSOM?

(On stage only btw, answers involving Asda at Owlcotes, Pudsey will be disregarded)

Me:

First - Oct 1982 Riley Smith Hall, Leeds University
Last - Nov 2016 Olympia, Liverpool
....if I have to explain, then you'll never understand....

My only regret that I never saw them at The Albert Hall in 1985

Always London Astoria 2001 :von:

Suppose my 'always', which I'm taking to be favourite, would be:

Mar 1985 - Refectory, Leeds University

Kashmir, Dry Ice, Back-lighting, just rock'n'roll turned up to eleven with a knowing wink, and that was before they even started their set lol

First time: Philadelphia 1997, for the execrably named "Dark Harvest" festival. Traveled up from Texas.

Last time was in Dallas back in 2006.

Oh, and "always" would have to be Norwich 2016. Because I needed that.

Most recently Sheffield 2016.

hadn't realised that one was almost the anniversaryof the other.

hard to choose a favourite from all of them, although wembley arena was the only time i burst into tears with the sheer emotion of it all.

Ooops forgot the 'Always'. Hmmm probably Leeds 30th anniversary gigs or the Belfast concert a couple of years ago which was great and I got to sleep in my own bed afterwards! :D

Torn on my "Always" choice really.
The 84 Top Rank one, as it was my cherry popper, will forever live on for me, but the following year, at the same venue, with it being Gary's last stand, gets an honourable mention :)
Cheers.

The Always was somewhere in between, but I have no idea where.

I think the best I've ever seen them was probably the two night stand at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco back in 1998. It was awe-inspiring.

Interesting. The first night at Maritime was actually the poorest sound I've experienced. The second night was transcendent, however. Seriously, I remember the heat of the lights and this other-worldly, out of body feel. All of this made sense in retrospect as I proceeded to experience the worst flu of my life for a week afterwards. I think all on the Dominion mailing list blamed that bottle of vodka/juice that we passed around. Did you take a swig?
