So, following that logic, does that mean Palmer Eldritch is a goff then? Which would make the Phillip K. Dick novel The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch a gothic novel, rather than a sci-fi/futuristic novel?splintered thing wrote:Until he calls himself ANDREW TAYLOR he is goff.
Amen.

I don't necessarily agree with everything I think.
For me, around the Vision Thing era, they seemed to take the 80's hair metal, mix it with Eldo's own sensiblities. Lo and behold, the album could almost be considered 'goff metal' (hate that tag but you get the jist of it).
FALAA, at times, sounds like Joy Division but I never considered them goff.
Floodland is a proper pop album.

Speak for yourself, I'm an aging trog lol, you've seen my musical taste in other threads and posts. I just happened to be at the wrong Uni and in the wrong pub in 1982 ha ha ha.

ok so "they're not goth". but they definitely were goth. when i was walking round in a leather jacket, cowboy hat, skin-tight jeans and/or shredded bleached jeans, with winkle-pickers and a paisley shirt -ie "goth fashion", so were the sisters! ok they were innovators and an inspiration fashion-wise and definitely wearing said outfits before me, but to "straight people" the only difference might have been that they should have know better being older. to your tv-smashing scum-reading lorry-driver they would have been "weirdoes and poofters" just like the rest of us goths.
and their music back then epitomises the quality end of "goth music"; hence it's popularity with goths and the endless imitations by 2nd, 3rd and mission-rate bands. the reptile house ep is as goth as it gets, with possibly only siamese twins by the cure and night shift by the banshees managing to sit on the same shelf.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

I´m not a goth but a Sisters fan. And I´ve met a few people who ARE goths and Sisters fans. I would say basically the Sisters are not goth (as is not getting tired to clarify). But popular in the goth scene.

I remember the back drainpipe jeans, leather, Paisley and bangles being worn by longhairs in Birkenhead and Liverpool before g*th was a twinkling in a music journalist's eye.

Doors, Zep, Purple, Velvets, Hawkwind, Lizzy, Loud Shirts, Leather... they were products of their generation, like me, so they're hippy scum! I did laugh when Von used it as a knowing aside.
