AE

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

AFFG is like somebody photocopies the Mona Lisa.

It looks correct, all the right bits are in all the right places, but ultimately it's not even a clever forgery.

Sisters thrash is primitive but at least it's an original work.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I quite enjoy AFFG, it ticks quite a few boxes for me, but it isn't earth shattering, however, that was never it's intention.

There have been times over the years when I have been left disappointed by a Sisters live show. In the last couple of years I have dropped lucky and seen decent shows, but to adopt the phraseology above, I have sometimes left feeling like you do when you discover the previous occupant has used old copies of the Echo instead of proper under felt beneath your living room carpet.

AFFG, AFAIK () borrowed a lot form FALLA and first two t'Missiun's albums, it's nothing new in current music - like in movie we got more "sequels" and "prequels" than original works. And we already knows that, if someone that, AE is entitled to do whatever he desires with his songs; if go want to thrash them - good, if he want to trash them - fine and dandy.
And get over yourself - it's a matter of taste.

That's unfair, even if NMA lost a bit during their career, they cannot be compared to TSOM or T'Missiun - they're simply too good, both live and on record.

NMA are the band that still make me look at hotels and booking holidays, few do that now.

Exactly...would never travel to see the Sisters now.
But recently rediscovered NMA after a 10 year hiatus (always wanted to say that :D ) and brilliant they were indeed.

They still make good music, release it and energise a stage.

All discussions about The Sisters output are about the merchandise, who did what in 1985 and about a bloody rare, tinny, demo of Body Electric that nobody in their right minds (including the members ot TSOM) would want to hear, own or remember. Relevant indeed.

...no offence to anyone intended by the way. Its just my opinion and stems out of disappointment and possibly boredom.

I know the feeling, will do the Devon festival, but am ummimg about doing London 'cos beer, hotels and travel will cause a £500 drop and am not sure they are worth that nowadays, it's a pity, but that's where I am. Anywhere within a car journey of Leeds or Murkeyside and I'm there, but that London hmmmm.

To be honest I'm looking forward to the two dates I'm doing. London and Dortmund. Maybe novel because I haven't seen TSOM for yrs? Very expensive hobby for those who go to every gig on every tour? Not sure why?

Talking of Leeds, is there a possibility of them playing as Near Meth Experience prior to this tour?
