Heartland cover (Kiss the anus of a black cat)

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

I usually don't like sisters covers, either they try to sounds like AE and fail miserably or their interpretation of the song is fail...

This guy (band ?) does a scaledown version with only his vocals and a guitar, somehow his vocals and style of singing is fitting, if you didn't know this was a cover, you could easily think it was a song by the guy...

Only thing I can complain on is the name of the group, sounds a bit wonky...

First Sisters cover ever that's actually listenable but a bit boring.

They're Belgian, that's often a quality label ;)

They commented in the past that 'if we had known we would become that famous, we'd have chosen another band name in the beginning'

I also remember something about them taking the name from som old witches ritual of some kind. But I could be wrong.

Totally missed that one and it's easily the best one! Thanks for the tip!

You are correct. Kissing the anus of a black cat is one of the witches' initiation rites.

The next initiation rite is washing her mouth with soap. That's why Theresa May, for example, is not a witch.

That was on the other hand totally unlistenable. Especially his voice. Uh.
Thanks for the tip though! :)

Although often disputed, it goes:

1) Lambchop 2) Lisa Cuthbert 3) Cradle of Filth 4) Scooter*

After that take your pick from Paradise Lost, Vena Valley or anything else. It hardly matters.

i try to be open-minded (note how long it took me to even listen to this) but i just cant stand covers of The Sisters. it always sound like sacrilege to me but each to their own.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Meh.

no, i can't. the original means too much to me. it's like a drag artist putting your wifes underwear on and expecting you to want to sleep with them.

I'm with you on this one! I've yet to hear a cover that doesn't immediately make me want to go listen to the original to cleanse myself!
