Early gigs and the first demo tape

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

The latest post on my TSOM blog - https://sistersfan.blogspot.co.uk/2017/ ... -1981.html - looks in detail at the first demo tape, and in particular the source of the tracks on the B Side, the "live" tracks.

The results mean that a further slight change may be needed to the Wiki gigography, @Being645, as the likely sequence is as follows :

1. 16.2.81 York Uni (supporting Thompson Twins)
- (10.3.81 Leeds Warehouse - fake date)
2. 19.3.81 Leeds F Club @ Brannigans (supporting Altered Images)
3. 22.3.81 Leeds F Club @ Tiffany's (twelve band charity extravaganza)
- (4.4.81 York Uni - fake date)
- (4.5.81 Leeds, St John's Terrace - recorded live rehearsal?)
4. 7.5.81 York Uni (supporting Reluctant Stereotypes)
5. 13.6.81 Leeds Uni (with Expelaires and Ping Peg Slax)

Unless of course, anyone has other information!

Thank you very much for the information. As usual, that is a very nice and interesting entry ... :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: ...

I will adjust the info in the SistersWiki step by step asap ... for The Sisters of Mercy, for YOU, for myself and for EVERYONE.

:?: :?: :?: ... are you referring to some soundcheck that took or took not place decades ago? If so, feel free to PM me about that issue.

Just caught up on both the recent posts. This one was particularly good, and a timely read for me as this 'gig' was next in my listen to pile of old CD-Rs. Everything you said about the St John's gig being a taped rehearsal seems right to me. Another great detective job ... Thanks!

Just ended up at this post whilst checking out the St. Johns Terrace theory (before i posted in the FB pondlife group- though dog knows my diligence for being as close to the facts as possible is unappreciated by certain sections of the fanbasics) & it occurs to me that whilst those 5 tracks are probably as we surmised from a live rehearsal, that doesnt rule out a gig at Leeds warehouse on the same date as listed on the official site. a pre-gig rehearsal would be almost normal for most bands. :innocent:

@Nikolas Vitus Lagartija this would still not affect the first 3 gigs as its the 4th if (big 'IF' i know) the official site is correct.
