if not MR01-MR06 had been used for releases by other bands ?

They didn't use consecutive numbers after MR7 though, jumped to MR13 then went up with odd numbersBeing645 wrote:Hhm, but why would The Sisters of Mercy start releasing with catalogue# MR07,Dan wrote:Probably no connection at all. Is this the place I used to know as Fatherland?
Does anyone know if the versions of songs on La Costa Rasa's Merciful Release 'Autopilot' CD are the same as on their original 'Last Of The Baby Boomers' LP of 2 years earlier? I have the CD, but never heard the LP. Interestingly Claire Shearsby, Andy's ex, is noted as producer of both.

Mega City Four used this as a way to make it look as though they were a signed band with their debut single. Although it was self financed and released, they gave it a catalogue number 009 or something to make it seem as though the label putting it out was already established.Being645 wrote:Hhm, but why would The Sisters of Mercy start releasing with catalogue# MR07,Dan wrote:Probably no connection at all. Probably not of much appeal to anyone on here who's favourite elements of The Sisters are Dr Avalanche and Andy's baritone. I love them though.

Factory used to give everything a number, gigs, posters, even the cat (true!) so maybe one to six were similar to that. I ahem appropriated the Factory scheme of things for the Abridged. The latest issue is 0 - 51 but there haven't been 51 issues...Mothra wrote:Mega City Four used this as a way to make it look as though they were a signed band with their debut single. Quite likely. Another possibility is that the MR catalogue index also functioned in those early days as SKUs for gig posters, press photo packs, press releases, and other non-musical-releases, as per Factory Record's catalogue.Mothra wrote:Mega City Four used this as a way to make it look as though they were a signed band with their debut single. In a way, it is only logical - every commercial enterprise and professional person would consecutively number all of their projects ...
from that view and with regard to The Sisters, single cover print and t-shirt production might have been MR004 and MR005 ... ...
That makes sense, missing numbers of format MR00x are other products and not records or non released records.

This is MR2 (well, MRcass2 - see sticker on cassette box near bottom of page):
https://sisterswiki.org/Gary_Marx_Demo_Tape
There's also an earlier demo tape that doesn't have the live tracks on side B (because it was made before the live tracks had been recorded). Nobody's ever seen one, but the earlier tape would presumably be MR1 (or MRcass1).

Anyone heard the Scoda Blush album?
https://sisterswiki.org/Little_Late
Had a scout around but can't see it on YouTube or any of the usual places.
Given he was releasing MK Ultra's stuff around 95, and this was the last MR release in 98, I'm curious to see where Andrew's head was at in terms of what sort of bands he thought should have been on MR...

Peter Paulsen on his site gives more info about the album and points Rough Trade as distributor
Seems it's more rare than Damage Done from the price that is available in amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Little-late-Sc ... B00004ZMRE

I know it's thread necro - but...
Also could it not just be that Damage Done was MR07 because it was the first 7"? Sometimes a cigar is just a smoke...
IIRC Claire was seeing Andy of La Costa Rasa at the time.
