Everything was s**t in the 80s. Even David Bowie's 80s stuff was mostly terrible.
The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

Obviously everyone sees things different and remembers things different. I have trouble remembering anyway.
But my vague recollections are that the eighties were a game of two halves Brian.
The first half had some good stuff left over from the seventies - post-punk / new wave etc. Then there was electronic or synth pop and I quite liked some of the New Romantic stuff. Then there goth bands (were they called goth then?). There was also Glam Metal - Hanoi Rocks were excellent and who can forget the mighty WRATHCHILD.
Lots of stuff worth seeing and buying - interesting and exciting.
The second half I dont really remember that much new and exciting. I heard the Sisters for the 1st time and fell in love but that doesnt count. The only bands from the latter part of the eighties that I remember being moved by were Sputnik and Transvision Vamp.

The ones I slowly fell out with between 1980 and the end of the eighties:
1. The m*****n
2. The Damned
3. U2
...Remember thinking how can such dynamic bands lose it...

Not exactly a fan of Jesus Jones, either.
