On this day in 1983 (or was it?) ...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

New on my TSOM blog, a look back at the first gig of the golden year of 1983. Any more details would be appreciated! https://sistersfan.blogspot.co.uk/2018/ ... dford.html

Another nice read Nik. :notworthy:
I was going to suggest that it had been pushed to Tuesday due to the new year's holiday etc. but if there are tapes referencing the 3rd that shoots my theory out of the water.
Cheers.

Good point, it would have been a Bank Holiday Monday with New Year's Day on the Saturday. Bradford City had a 3 p.m. kick-off on Monday 3rd so it may be that bars had to stop serving at 10 p.m. on the 3rd back in 1983??

Another great read.

I have no idea regarding the date but I can't imagine that a bank holiday would make the gig that less likely, surely gigs happen on every bank holiday somewhere?
Give me one good reason

Can't confirm the Bradford date, but they definitely played The Warehouse on the 20th January 1983
Thanks to Pontiac Detroit and the citizens of Wakefield
