Art For Art's Sake...

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

This was posted by a Mr. Dean Pritchard in Tom Riddler's facebook group "Ribbons -The Sister Of Mercy Art Gallery":

"Just wondered if anyone would like to see these? I worked for the Sisters in the late 90's and drew the first one at the end of a tour for the crew and the band (Von, Mike Varjak, Adam Pearson and Si Denbigh when he was the Nurse. The others are for a cartoon strip that I was asked to draw for Underneath the Rock in about '95."

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

that's the strip/page from UTR14 i believe.

i like the first (colur) pic best. i reckon that should have been the inner liner sleeve for the new album due that glorious summer .

the atist Dean is also basically the guy who filmed all of the concerts of that era for the purpose of making the (in)famous "live DVD". :von:

Back row from left: Don McKevitt (production manager), Robbo (tour manager), Nigel 'the guru' (lights).
Front row from left: Jurgen Jansen (of Project Pitchfork, sound), Si Denbigh, Adam Pearson, Von, Mike Varjak and Dean Pritchard. :von:

i think thats one of the nicest "icons" of the band as an operating unit in the post-product era. its very personal isnt it? Dean tol d me straight off that amongst his jobs for the band were things he couldn't and/or wouldn;'t discuss but i reckon he'll be pretty open on evrything else.
