That Electric ballroom sketch is only half the story. They supported Virgin Prunes at this, then did a late headline show at the Camden Palace.
Mad day out all round. Dozen of us in a van from Wakefield. Got home about half eight the following day.

Was the Camden Palace late on the 11th or early on the 12th?!Original GS wrote:That Electric ballroom sketch is only half the story. They supported Virgin Prunes at this, then did a late headline show at the Camden Palace.

Fair point; remember setting off about 2am, so they could have started playing gone midnight.
Half eight Friday morning :-/

Which leads us nicely into the 12th August, when we are almost certain that Sisters played a gig in the very early hours at the Camden Palace in 1983 (https://sisterswiki.org/Fri,_12-Aug-1983). They also didn't play in Portland in 1991.Original GS wrote:Fair point; remember setting off about 2am, so they could have started playing gone midnight.

In 2000 they played Mera Luna with support from they who cannot be named (on here): https://sisterswiki.org/Sat,_12-Aug-2000 and then in 2005 they played Tabor, in the Czech Republic (another festival): https://sisterswiki.org/Fri,_12-Aug-2005
I liked the 2000 Mera Luna
Sunny with caipirinhas, Marc Almond, Apocalyptica, some caipirinhas, t' Mish (who were fun and did their Marian thing) and then a few more caipirinhas before the main event
Sisters were good and played 3-4 things that were either new or hadn't been played in Europe before. Hard to believe but at the time their really was a sense that they were getting back on track and there was a possibility of product!
As seen in HL gallery..

In 2010, our lads played their first Romanian show at ArtMania in Sibiu
It was a Friday the 13th show in Transylvania & they say they're not goth.
& then in 2016 The Sisters returned to M'era Luna festival to headline the second night.
& the planned gig in Seattle 1991 was one of the many cancelled that year

ooo i like Eureka Machines, got a cd from one of the lovely guys before they brought out their first albumn. lovely people, talking quite a few years ago...Mothra wrote:I completely agree! Have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times over the years, and seeing him playing a tiny sweatbox of a venue with the Eureka Machines within walking distance of my flat, as well on bigger stages with The Sisters, EM and with Ginger Wildheart. I think most on here agree that he breathed life into The Sisters when he joined up.
i agree with you, Chris did breathe life into the Sisters when he joined!

Just the one known show on August 14th, which was back in 2005 at Mera Luna (https://sisterswiki.org/Sun,_14-Aug-2005).
Adam Pearson's last show with the band. Not sure if it was known prior that he was leaving. Does 14th August 2005 therefore mark the date at which any realistic hope that a new Sisters album (or single) finally disappeared?

15th August, again, only one show, The Spirit of Burgas in 2008: https://sisterswiki.org/Fri,_15-Aug-2008
I've got a 25 minute video of this one, but not the full show as audio, although apparently there is at least one version out there.

I thought it was, he wanted to go earlier but agreed to do the '05 dates before leaving.Mothra wrote:Just the one known show on August 14th, which was back in 2005 at Mera Luna (https://sisterswiki.org/Sun,_14-Aug-2005).

Heaven knows. At least this last gig of the Twothousandfive Tour was a rather saddening event compared to the starting gig at 013 in Tilburg ...czuczu wrote:I thought it was, he wanted to go earlier but agreed to do the '05 dates before leaving.Mothra wrote:Just the one known show on August 14th, which was back in 2005 at Mera Luna (https://sisterswiki.org/Sun,_14-Aug-2005).

and when the news came in later that Adam had left the bad, it seemed to explain the obvious slump ... how in hell did that happen at all ... ...

And after a few days rest (for the band as well as us), we have a gig anniversary to mark! 18 years ago today, The Sisters were playing the Doomsday Festival: https://sisterswiki.org/Sat,_19-Aug-2000

On this day in 1993, some past and present members of the band played a show in Leeds (https://sisterswiki.org/Sat,_21-Aug-1993).
However, The Sisters of Mercy have never played a gig on the 21st August

No Sisters gig on that day, though in 1993 Andrew Eldritch appeared as a guest singer with the Utah Saints at the Off The Street benefit event for the homeless in Leeds.
Check it out. Thanks to David Whytworth , there are plenty photos (also of other participants) from the event that I've recently uploaded ... ....

Stayed in a mates flat near Hyde Park. First thing we had to do was let them know they'd been broken into...Mothra wrote:On this day in 1993, some past and present members of the band played a show in Leeds (https://sisterswiki.org/Sat,_21-Aug-1993).

T'was a fun, boisterous day - plenty of heckling. Mish were good, Cud did a great job of clearing the floor and the Utah's + guest were the business.
I've got the setlists from the stage somewhere indoors, I may even have posted them here before. Also, and I definitely know I've mentioned this before, Yorkshire TV were there with a film crew but I've never seen any footage.
Not seen those photos before - sweet backstage ones!Being645 wrote:No Sisters gig on that day, though in 1993 Andrew Eldritch appeared as a guest singer with the Utah Saints at the Off The Street benefit event for the homeless in Leeds.

A couple of years back I had the 'pleasure' of seeing Cud supporting The Wedding Present (Leeds finest live act 1986-1990, at which point some other band starting playing gigs again ). They (Cud) were complete dog-s**t.czuczu wrote:Cud did a great job of clearing the floorMothra wrote:On this day in 1993, some past and present members of the band played a show in Leeds (https://sisterswiki.org/Sat,_21-Aug-1993).

Fri, 24-Aug-2001: Hasselt - Belgium - Pukkelpop Festival
Hot & sunny, Sisters headlined the tent, not main stage. Relatively short and very smoky set compared to the other Summer 2001 shows.
Good weekend though, nice vibe at Pukkelpop

17 years ago I met some fine folk almost by chance (you know who you are ) traveling to Pukkelpop and we all camped in the heat together. Great times! I have the photos somewhere...
The "official" audio of We Are The Same Susanne" is taken from this gig, although IIRC the actual footage is from Bonn. https://youtu.be/fy-JcKlIq38

no talk. for me personally it was more entertaining, and I found Eldritch in a more relaxed mood... ... without all that blast ... although the photos from Bonn are super ... ...czuczu wrote:Being645 wrote:better than Bonn
