Chris on the twitters

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

While everyone's agog with Dylan & new songs etc, Chris has been quite open answering questions about The Sisters on the twitters
Cheers.

As much so as Wayne or Tim, and probably more so than Anne-Marie Hurst and Andy Cousin.

I've used part of lunchtime to digest the tweets over a sly pint.

It appears that:
Adam wanted to release new material;
Chris and Ben developed tunes for lyrics that they were keen to release;
No mention of any outside impediment to releasing records.

Thanks for your candour Chris, will stand you a beer or three over in Pudsey.

I think the highly predictable truth is that Andrew just isn't interested in releasing music. He's given various answers over the years to obfuscate and dissemble but basically the truth is he just not that bothered.

it's like that movie title says, he's just not that into us.
“I don't want people to come and see our gig because of the magnificent things I'm doing with my hips, but it's their evening, you know. They have to have fun. I'm a little bit naive."

I think that may change now the Warner well has stopped pumping after the Rhino re-release deal. Could the Peel release and talk of Gift reissue be the first signs of renewed activity via monetising old assets still on the shelf?

This is all fascinating stuff, and very much appreciated by the factual information-starved fanbase. Looking forward now to Von double-booking himself for the next tour, maybe he'll open up with his view on proceedings whilst The Sisters fun-machine rumbles across the planet without him ;D

Favourite quote from what I've read so far (thanks to the above link, cheers Swinnow) 'there doesn't have to be drama'. Possibly wishful thinking there Mr Catalyst, but undoubtedly true.

Nice bit of inadvertent marketing too, he'll be getting my money for one of those groovy EM hoodies 8)

Hadn't head of a Peel sessions release.
Is this official/due out?

I seem to recall someone asking Eldritch about it in UTR in the 90's, to which he replied one of the sessions was taped over almost immediately after, so they'd need to find a good quality recording, and, in typically withering style, how the BCC only lets idiots touch the controls.

... :lol: ... honestly, I wouldn't overrate this too much. Given the fact that since 2006 at the latest we all know Some Kind Of Stranger (early),
the news in that conversation is relative. I love Some Kind Of Stranger (early). It just ever so normal and at the same time courageous ... :| ...

What I find most intriguing is this:
We finished the music [to Far Parade] (which was really great, we used to soundcheck with it) and Andrew finished the words but never seemed to want to sing them.
So did anyone notice an otherwise unknown instrumental during soundcheck in the past years?

There's a recording by heartlander ozjohn1 of the doktor soundchecking his parts for a weird song which we thought might've been Far Parade:

Surely that is just the good Doktor clearing his throat at soundcheck.

It's obviously something that guise of the band were playing with and so worth chasing. Maybe Chris might comment via the gift of twatter.

They've been using that piece to check the monitors are working just before they go on stage for years now.
