Hello. Greetings, Fellow Sisters fanatics.
You can call me DJED but my real name is Adam
Been lurking round these parts for ages. Just got done reading every post in every thread in the LYRICS sub-forum. Got to know a lot of you regulars by your writing style and your icons. Got to know a few of the irregulars too.
I fell in love with TSOM at the first piano chord of Black Planet when my college friend taped FALAA onto a TDK D90. That was in 1985. Just in time for them to break up. Put a Merciful Release poster on my bedroom wall.
Followed the Mish around a bit, because well they actually had a band and played gigs. FALAA was still my favourite. Didnt stop me painting the Mish loop on the back of my jacket.
Then I got into cowboys a little bit, and followed the Neph around for a while. Bought a hat, and covered myself in flour.....DUUUUUUUUST.
Tidied up, and followed Ghost Dance around. When I could. Which wasn't often.
So instead I bought some clogs, and followed NMA around for a bit. Got tired of getting the s**t kicked out of me listening to music, but didnt get tired of the sound of clogs marching up the Northern Line escalators at Kentish Town. FALAA was till my favourite.
Got really lazy. Stopped washing my hair. Grew dreads. Got into shoegaze. Followed Spacemen and Loop around for a bit.
Fell in love with an American lass. Cut my hair, moved to California, got married, bought a house, bought a car, maintained steady employment.
Had a kid. Got all serious. Tried to be 'a good parent'. Basically not like my dad. Turned into my dad.
Get told to "f**k off" and called a "c**t" by my teenage son at regular intervals. After 25 years marriage is a loveless agreement of convenience.
Deadly virus spread by idiots. Confined to quarters with the two people who hate me the most. Other than my s**t crazy sister, perhaps.
Living in this furnace far away from home, family and friends I still have Sisters music to cheer me up
35 years since I first heard FALAA and its still my favourite. Play TSOM music every day. I even record the odd cover song and put it on YouTube once in a while. I've given up any hope of seeing the Sisters live. Unless I can escape this furnace, break quarantine and sneak back to the motherland. Probably not.
Anyway, at least I have the new Sisters album to look forward to.......oh, wait.

So, I like writing, like stories, prone to exaggeration. I'm not quite so dour. I'll see y'all around the pages I'm sure. Oh, and pardon the french. I have a potty mouth.
Cheers

Hiya, I too listen to my cd collection of The Sisters almost daily. When Andrew sings “my heartland” 200 times in a row it drives my daughters away and I get some time alone lmao. Nice to have you here, hopefully things will get better soon
Is you is or is you a’int, an LSU Tigers fan?

I like your tactics. Alone time is a sparse commodity especially in 2020. Things are really not bad. Better than for many. But I’m an invetroate goth. My life is one big dark room on a black planet. Glass half empty and all that.CamilleDeville wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 04:51 Hiya, I too listen to my cd collection of The Sisters almost daily. TOS2020, the devil's work?
For there to be a devil there would need to be a god. I believe in neither. 2020 is mans fault. The real question, is it the abuse of science, or the ignorance of it.

Hello, thank you
Hello, thanks. I like it here. I’m not usually very active on forums. But I’ll try to be less of a lurker and more of a contributor. My day always starts with quick peek through the MH window. The only other forum I’m active on - and not that much - is gearslutz. Facebook I only post when I have a plate of food I feel the urge to share with the world. I’ll try to do better on MyHeartland

Actually I fall into the “it’s my least fave Sisters song” camp
I find it to be a wee bit shallow compared to the many layered intellectual story arcs of better Sisters work

Fair enough, I was just curious. It has become something of a tradition on HL to ask newbies if they like it or not.DJElectricDaddy wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 17:29Actually I fall into the “it’s my least fave Sisters song” camp

FAR more important is knowing your biscuit and dunking preferences. There's a whole thread on that, which houses far more debate than whether you like YCBTO or not
Anyway, welcome in. At least FB is useful for something

Like any good Englishman I’m a fervent tea drinker. And as we all know tea is too wet without biscuit crumbs floating around in it. My preferences are Tetley or PGTips. I can get Tetley at Stater Bothers for $3 so that’s the norm these days. I like it hot, fresh boiled. But at my age I forget that I boiled the kettle, forget that a brewed a cuppa and forget I have a mug on the desk in front of me. So invariably I’m drinking warm or even cold tea. I’ve been known to microwave a cup several times before I actually drink itemilystrange wrote: ↑17 Sep 2020, 19:28 FAR more important is knowing your biscuit and dunking preferences. I like a good plain digestive, even better with chocky on top. I like when the chocky melts post-dunk. I like HobNobs, chocky or sans-chocky. I like Garibaldi, shortbread, snickerdoodle, peanut butter....in fact when it comes to biscuits or cookies I really don’t discriminate.
Anyway, thank you Emily, nice to be in
