Book: Waiting For Another War

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Arrived last last week...but not fully arrived on my desk because I've not yet opened it!

I need to savor it.

I've got a hospital stay coming up...might be the perfect companion.

THANK YOU TREVOR!

Looking forward to it though!

Okay so...WOW.

The house was quiet, the workday was over...the package was waiting.

Shipped in perfect shape, bubble wrap envelope in the FedEx sleeve.

This is beautifully done, just holding the book...the soft covers are...soft! Overall, just visually the book is gorgeous...pages, photos, presentation.

I'm afraid of reading it all in one sitting.

If you are on this site...you need to get this book.

TREVOR - well done my friend. Am sure I'll send more such sentiments when I'm done.

This made my day, my week.

Great book and well worth the financial pain.... great photo's, anecdotes and a real sense for the sheer hard work that Andy put into the whole thing...Great insight to the band dynamics and what the other girls brought to the table

Any is something of a benevolent dictator...though sometimes omits the benevolent bit.....

looking forward to reading the next instalment.... hopefully it's titled Rock and Roll Part II !!!

Trevor sent the book incredibly quick - I thought it was the payment confirmation but it was also the shipping confirmation, just a few minutes after purchase! :notworthy:

Now however, it's stuck at the German customs in Frankfurt airport since this weekend. I hope they release it as soon as they've finished reading it :P

Many, many thanks for all the very nice comments.

I will do a post or newsletter on the subject of shipping delays, but here I will just say that a handful of people have reported them. So if your book doesn't seem to have moved much beyond Jamaica (Queens), then you are not alone. When I shipped the hardcover I had this problem too and not one book was lost or returned to me. At this time I'd counsel patience because the USPS is still suffering from some COVID delays too.

Also, I was interviewed for the blog "No More Workhorse" (great title) about the book, and you can find Part I of that interview here:
https://nomoreworkhorse.com/2020/10/20/ ... oEd3Bwghrc

I guess Part II is forthcoming. Big thanks to Killian Laher who conducted and edited the interview.

Are there any New Yorkers left on here? If so you can now buy "Waiting For Another War" at Topos Bookstore.

Save on shipping and support a great local place with a terrific café (https://www.toposbookstore.com/).

Ordered in Dublin on Friday, arrived on my doorstep this morning - that's super quick. I prevaricated on purchasing because it IS expensive, but actually seeing the book in person, it's totally worth it.

First impressions are this is a truly fantastic book. Extremely impressed. Can't wait to get stuck in.

Von should endorse it. It opens up a window into the past of the band and explains why its foundation and roots were so important and have basically pushed the band into the mainstream.
