Yeah it’s rare I have 3 hours to sit down in one setting BY MYSELF, uninterrupted. So I’d need to know what I’m getting into before paying. I mean even the most evil corporate a-holes Amazon give you 48 hours to finish watching a 90 minute movie. 6 hours feels a bit unreasonable to me. As does the lousy customer service
Hopefully a bootleg crops up on the Toobs sooner or later. I’ll give my money to their merch store instead
apparently there aaaarrggh! (conspicuous pirate noise) ways to hack streamed videos...its all gibberish to me but theres definitely ways to steal i mean borow i mean
not pay for some tings innit me hearty.
Yeah the most obvious way I can think of is to screen capture the stream on the computer and upload that for all and sundry to enjoy. I wouldn’t do that myself, I’m happy to pay NMA or whomever. Even the Mill deserve payment for their efforts despite the lousy customer service and TOC.
I was thinking about every YouTube view these days earns a penny in copyright for someone. I reckon it’s mostly going to the record companies (see Rick Beato’s numerous rants on UMG copyright claims). I wonder how much of that ever gets to the bands/artists. I’d love to see artist be able to strike a deal with YouTube so they can earn their fair share
mate dont even get me started on yootoob...ok one last time for my spleens sake...
so, in the first place it was a video sharing site but it soon became a vast beyond measure repository and resource for -what seemed like and still does- pretty much all the music ever released anywhere ever. all uploaded by the general public in the spirit of every other file sharing site on the web. i rememeber when i moved off the road and into my flat around 12 years ago how YT filled the (admittedly few) gaps in the catalogues of pirateable music available on The Pirate Bay, Mediafire Napster etc. all the tiny little bands stuff was there, all the artists with too small a fanbase to satisfy the seeding requirements of the torrent and other Peer2peer sites. i struggled with "in shreds" by the chameleons and the 12" version of Brave New World (both of which i have myself since uploaded in astonishing digitral quality). oh and for some reason "Our Summer" (All About Eve) was a bitch to get. but little else.
Then it all changed. I love Lady Gaga almost unconditionally but her licensing deal with VEVO was a big nail in the true spirit of YT. that and it being bought by Google...
Where Napster was stamped out of existence and The Pirate Bay was heavily criminalised (i believe the 3 original founders are still on the run from 7 year stretches in Sweden) yootoob' was suddenly a reputable and legal site with one major flaw: 98% of its content had been provided for sweet FA by the "illegal" file-sharing of the general public. for every "official" video at the top of a yt there is an entire page of content that Google are merrily charging people to view., that they did fu
ck all to aquire. its never as good quality as the original upload (unless you use certain tools like XDM download manager or Linux's Firefox YT extension -similar extensions for microsoft friendly browsers are pointless as YT spends a f**k of a lot of time and effort defeating the endless procession of new video grabbers, and they are NEVER up and working for long.)
ironically there are many instructional videos on YT explaining exactly how to "steal" streamed videos. Just saying...
Your screen recorder is a not too bad an idea but there is a way to isolate the url for the hosting site where the video is stored....apparently.
Personally i am happy to pay for the vid but only if i get5 an actual copy to keep in perpetuity. i am not spending an Ayrton Senna simply to rent a gig for less than a day! so when /if i have grabbed myself one so i'll PM you.
