Is the only live TV performance by The Sisters - in any incarnation - The Old Grey Whistle Test from 85??
I was looking on youtube but couldn't find anything beyond mimed sets. In fact I think the only time I've seen The Sisters live on telly is either the OGWT or a broadcast of Wake.
There was the time you could hear them in the background when Martin Gore was being interviewed at Crystal Palace but that hardly counts!
Even interviews show the stock videos rather than a recent performance - which was uncommon.
Imagine to see them pop up on something like 'Later' doing the new songs but this could be the most unlikely thing ever!
I wonder if this a band policy - like never having video screens even when available at festivals - or further evidence of the mainstream media's anti-TSOM bias on the part of tv bookers, presenters et all...!
Live TV Appearences
I don't think the sisters come across particularly well on live television and Von probably knows this. You've really got to be there kind of thing. I heard that MTV wanted to record a concert back in the day but Eldo wanted complete control of the sound, edit etc. They quite rightly told him to f**k off.bangles wrote: ↑13 Nov 2020, 15:39 Is the only live TV performance by The Sisters - in any incarnation - The Old Grey Whistle Test from 85??

I can’t remember if they were ever on The Tube, or if that was Va Mish. Anything pre 1995 just blurs into one foggy day

The confetti still swirling around in front of my telly suggests it was The Mish on The Tube on that winter's night.DJElectricDaddy wrote: ↑13 Nov 2020, 23:29 I can’t remember if they were ever on The Tube, or if that was Va Mish. Anything pre 1995 just blurs into one foggy day

There used to be an 'overnight' TV Show on UK ITV back in the 90's called "The Beat". That was a mix of Live Footage from the Major Festivals and Live In the Studio.
They Mimed......
They Mimed......
For all its awfulness this is just brilliant. Andreas playing the keyboard part on his guitar and Tim acting like he's in a completely different band

Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"

heh, "kind of ... heavy metal ... meets david bowie .... meets the circus?"
The host doesn't know quite what to make of it all. Is there a "The Circus" band that I am not aware of, or does he mean like literally clowns n jugglers n stuff?

I believe that's Steve Wright who is a radio personality in Great Britain . I'm not wrong in thinking that he made this his record of the week on the Radio 1 show back in 1992. I was sitting on my school bus when I heard it played.

yep, that's him
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Wright_(DJ)
he is/was the voice-over for the Top Of The Pops 2 (aka TOTP2) clips/highlights show (where that footage is from) for years
his whole career has been built on him being a bit of a bellend

Spent my college and first job years listening to Steve wright in the afternoon and all his skits; David Bowie doing the time and weather check, the motorcycle courier, mick jagger. Was pretty funny at the time

I got told off at a job for writing "Steve Wright is a c**t" on stickers and putting them on the stereo.....I stand by that comment now, the bloke is a massive bellend.
Edit due to c**t being starred out, I wrote it normally, like a big boy and everyfink. The full C, U, N, and even the T. I just didn't want people to think that I had written cant or cart. Steve Wright is not a cant nor cart.

There's an old anecdote about John Peel in conversation with one of his Radio 1 colleagues where Peely mentions buying records and said colleague reacting as though he had a welly on his head: "You actually buy records? Why? They send them to us..."
Now I'm not 100% sure but I think said colleague was Steve Wright. (Although it could also have been Bruno Brookes or Gary Davies, both of whom are similarly not cants or carts.)

Great anecdote I recall reading that on the Peel wiki a little while ago. What a leg end.
Reminds me of, after many years of not listening to bbc radio, when I first discovered the iplayer and finding the 5live Mark Kermode movie show and thinking “Simon Mayo? THAT Simon Mayo? The tw@t from radio 1 back when music was shyte?.” I actually quite like him now, not as big a tw@t as he was back then. Or maybe its me that’s changedNow I'm not 100% sure but I think said colleague was Steve Wright. Simon Mayo was never a tw@t dude, it's just where he worked. His and and Mark Kermode's film reviews are a joy to watch/or listen to.DJElectricDaddy wrote: ↑19 Nov 2020, 03:12Great anecdote I recall reading that on the Peel wiki a little while ago. What a leg end.
