Misheard lyrics

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

One of my favourites -- can't remember where I saw it-- was:

Give me one good reason
give me...
in fact I mean logic

A friend insisted that 'When you don't see me' was actually an advert for AEG:

'Get real... get an oven'

Though to be fair, he did say that for comic effect.

Any other corkers?

Although I still am a firm believer that the lyrics 'solid gold' in 'lovecats' is actually 'Sally Gunnel'.

"spare him his wife coz there's one sausage each" An everlasting classic from a friend of ours singing the Bohemian Rhapsody.

I think it goes "spare him his life from this monstrosity" :)

He was pretty cool but he sucked at lyrics

Mrs T thought the words to the opening track on the Stone Roses first album were "I want to be a dog".

Sweetness I was only joking
When I said I'd like to
Mash a beetroot in your hair

Bigmouth Strikes Again by The Smiths. My own mishearing. It should (obviously) be

Smash every tooth in your head :?

When I first heard it I couldn't figure out why Andy was singing about a guy called Walter in On the Wire and what or where Walter was treading. (I was rather young. And yes, obviously it was Wall to wall to where you tread)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who used to think The Carpenters song went

'Calling occupants of interplanetary cr*p'

How I giggled each time it came on the radio!

only for flemish people...
my girlfriend (when she was little) thought that "vicious" went
"visjes, ze zwemmen in het water"
instead of
"vicious, you do it every hour"

it translates roughly as "fishes, they're swimming in the water".... :o

Quite a famous one is Macy Gray's 'Try'. It REALLY sounds like

'Though I try to hide it, it's clear - I wore goggles when you were not here'

(It is supposed to say 'my world crumbles when you are not here'. But it doesn't!)

From the lyric sheet that comes with the Japanese version of FALAA.
randdebiel² wrote:"excuse me while I kiss this guy"
As a joke, Jimi used to sing that at gigs more often than the correct version, so if you're listening to a live recording it's probably not a misheard lyric!

When I first heard Floorshow (I was still a nipper) I thought it was...
"This is the voice of the crap in your hands, animals go to the animal pound"

I still like to sing along with those lyrics now. :)
“I got lost in the mirror, wondering what could have been, I couldn’t help but kill her, but I couldn’t kill the dream.”

Another classic - Manfred Mann's Earth Band's "Blinded By the Light". Did anyone else wonder why in hell they were singing about feminine hygiene products?! ROFL!!! ;D  :notworthy:
