Sisters spotting

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

This Corrosion at number 12. Usual mistakes: missing "The" and wrong photo.

My youngest once had to write a piece on Black Sabbath for the Grauniad. It was OK, but I was seething as he was, and is, an indie kid and he never asked his old Dad for input

Was disappointed they didn't support U2 at Roundhay that year, but hey ho. Saw them support The Shamen at the T&C sometime in the 90s and suffice to say they'd got the band order the wrong way round.

The lead singer on this none-more-g*** track seems to be sporting an Overbombing t-shirt. I expect that his 'cease-and-desist' letter will be in the post by the end of the week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-pUrTMyY0Q :bat: :von:

I definitely wouldn't want to be associated with that either.

I surely can't be the only one who thought "Suggs!" when I saw that?

TIL Moby is a Sisters fan. Attempted a colab,...with predictable results:
“Lift Me Up” was penned as a tribute to the English goth-rock outfit The Sisters of Mercy. The singer’s initial idea was to have The Sisters of Mercy’s frontman Andrew Eldritch take on the vocals. However, after failing to track him down, Moby took on the lead vocals with Shayna Steele providing background vocals.

Absolutely fitting track, and I'm pretty sure Von's sympathies are with Ukraine, but I wonder if they asked him first

I‘m pretty sure they wouldn’t use it without asking.

Yours truly was spotted this morning rushing the cat to the vet in his TSOM shirt.
The cat was not happy and the shirt got peed on for my troubles.
On reflection I decided that Von would have approved.

Maybe old news but:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goths_(album)

"Andrew Eldritch Is Moving Back to Leeds"

There's indifference on the wind
But a faint gust of hope
At a club nobody goes to
With a musty velvet rope
Guys in Motörhead jackets
Who knew him way back when
Haven't raised a drink in years
But now meet up again
To remember how it was when they all thought they'd move away
And ride in Lotus 7s through the London streets one day
Nobody ever gets away
Even the best of us come back some day
To the unmarked rooms, where the dry dust breeds
Andrew Eldritch is moving back to Leeds
There's a rusted fog machine
In a concrete storage space
Letter-number combinations
With no meaning on it's face
They won't make these anymore
It's a wooden coach-n-four
No-one will even steal it if you leave it by the door
No sign to mark it's going, no tombstone for it's grave
There will be goodbyes by dozens, so practice being brave
No-one anticipates the rush
The breezy feeling of the faceless crush
At the end of things, where the salvage bleeds
Andrew Eldritch is moving back to Leeds
They don't throw him a parade
He just comes in on a train
One suitcase in his hand
And an old army backpack
From the second world war
From a Leipzig secondhand store
Pick the keys up from the agent
Everything's been taken care of
No big changes in the roadways
Since you've left that I'm aware of
A few old buildings gone to dust
And some new ones in the way
They'll look just like the old ones
When the winds have had their say
See the children bound for London, you'll all be back too
Everybody tests the membrane but no-one pushes through
Come on boys that'll be enough
You'd think your old friends wouldn't play so tough
Like a basket by the Nile, hiding down among the reeds
Andrew Eldritch is moving back to Leeds

Guitar Sister Mark noticed having a quiet pint with a couple of old school Originals in Wakefield last night.

Looking very well indeed
“You’ve come from Wakefield?! To see us?!”

Mogwai - What's in My Bag?

Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai goes shopping at Amoeba Music in Los Angeles.

He picks up a Sisters album (0:24) but it's not in his final list
(a lot of other interesting stuff is).
