Or I simply can’t post at all and occasionally get a message saying me replies are too short. I can’t win!

Wondering if there's some kind of javascript bug you're encountering? Is it always on the same browser/platform? Does it do that on a laptop and a phone, for eg?
I don't think there's any auto spam protection that might be enforcing that kid of rule either.
