Allegedly, according to someone I once shared a house with, when That Guitarist left the Sisters and formed the m*****n, he said one of the great things about it was that he'd now be able to make videos, something the Sisters never did much of.
But the guy who told me this also told me that there was never a video for Body And Soul - even though I told him I'd once seen it.
Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this and other early Sisters videos?

.... there is no semblance of rock 'n roll around here!
These have never been officially released, so your best bet is to hunt the web - most of the early stuff is out there.
Funny that W**** should have said that - every single they released when he was in the band had a video, plus there was Black Planet as well.

If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

I've probably got the same compilation as you.Black Horizon wrote:I have all the old videos on video. The videos are class but the sound is pretty low for some reason, which probably has something to do with the budget. I get the idea that they were made on the cheap, cos back then they didn't have a lot of money. The best ones would have to be Black Planet and Body And Soul, IMHO.
Pretty bad quality but still great to watch.
Black Planet has to rank as possibly one of the worst videos I've ever seen though. Fair enough they didn't have a ton of money to play with at the time but what is it all about!??

i quite liked the black planet vid actually. i LOVE that monkey mobile! tres cool! i also like the way von is the only one that does anything in it... apart from when wayne wakes up, looks around, thinks about doing something and then thinks better of it. quite a fitting metaphor for later events really
the body & soul vid is well dodgy - granted they looked quite cool (apart from herr eldo's shiney blue leather pants!), but that rubble and the burning flames atop fake columns? no we're not goths.. honest!
still, at least nothing was as cringeworthy as the vids for walk away and no time to cry... big hair, silly dancing and kerrrazy back-lighting!! and what was all that chucking glitter around the place in aid of, eh? cheesetastic!
good grief.
sisters vids only really got watchable from this corrosion onwards...

Damn good point about Body & Soul (what the F*CK!?!?!) & Walk Away. What's with that glitter in WA?! It could at least have fallen from above instead of Von twinkling (yeah, couldn't think of a better word) it all in front of his Chevy Chase.
Those moving floorboard things are worth a laugh or ten too.
Soooo incredibly cringeworthy... but hey, at the end of the day, those vids were the beginning, & we are all still here. Go figure.

I believe the glitter and the green laser thing in WA is a pastiche of an old Michael Jackson video. Jackson too used swirling green lasers on dry ice and twinkling glitter, but I can't for the life of me remember wich song it was. I think they wanted to do an evil version of that one.
Scattering the glitter First time I saw it I thought it was really cool, but at that age I thought everything was cool.

I think I've asked this once before, but I can't remember what answer I got, so I'll ask ut again.
Were any of those 3 early vids ever shown on Telly? If not, what was the point of making them, and them never releasing them to the public to buy?

walk away and black planet defnitely have been shown on mtv at some point... my videos come from there (but obviously not from at the time they were released)Black Shuck wrote:I think I've asked this once before, but I can't remember what answer I got, so I'll ask ut again.

i reckon it was WEA's idea to made promo videos in an attempt to try and sell the band stateside - the early/mid 80s were the start of the "mtv video culture" where all bands needed to make promo vids for their singles in order to be taken seriously (though i reckon the sisters vids probably had the exact reverse effect! )

Funny Wayne should say that - if the Mish were ever pretty uncomfortable with one medium it must have been the vid's. Btw. has *anybody* any idea what is going on in the Sisters camp these days? Are they now definitely on a hiatus?
