A Complete Compilation

THE place for your Sisters-related comments, questions and snippets of Sisters information. For those who do not know, The Sisters of Mercy are a rock'n'roll band. And a pop band. And an industrial groove machine. Or so they say. They make records. Lots of records, apparently. But not in your galaxy. They play concerts. Lots of concerts, actually. But you still cannot see them. So what's it all about, Alfie? This is one of the few tightly-moderated forums on Heartland, so please keep on-topic. All off-topic posts will either be moved or deleted. Chairman Bux is the editor and the editor's decision is final. Danke.

hey yall

so recently I've been putting together a list of every song, unreleased song, demo, live version, etc and put it together. I'm planning on putting all the songs not on Spotify in the sharing section to use with Spotify local files but for now are there any songs I should add to it. here is what I have so far, everything in bold is what I'd put on here.
some of the 2000's stuff like far parade, just aching, etc haven't been played live I just put them there

It's a pet peeve of mine, but these have the release order wrong:
Anaconda
Phantom
Alice
Floorshow
1969
The correct release order was Alice 7", Anaconda 7", Alice 12", so the songs should be ordered:
Alice
Floorshow
Anaconda
Phantom
1969
SGWBM is probably to blame for that.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Just be sure to run your idea by the mods on here first, if anything on that list is copyright material then that may put the kibosh on your plan, in part at any rate.

@NineWhileNine Dave is indeed correct. The second anything official hits the sharing board, it'll be removed.
Cheers.

Other "unreleased" material from the early days.

There's a Body Electric demo with different lyrics on the Kenny Giles Walks on Water bootleg. Rather poor sound quality and of interest for novelty value and to completists more than anything else.

A version of Good Things was the fourth song recorded in the Alice sessions (along with Alice, Floorshow and 1969, so mirroring the Peel session tracks), but as far as I'm aware it's never emerged. Since the Alice master tapes are either lost (or in one of Von's forgotten storage units) that's likely to remain the case.

There is a "slow" demo of Good Things in addition to the faster Peel session version. That properly belongs with the other 1981/82 "portastudio demos". Various bootlegs also included a "fast" demo, but I'm thinking they were probably just re-labelled Peel session versions.

A shorter instrumental version of Phantom with simpler guitar parts belongs with the "portastudio demos", as does a long instrumental version of Burn, labelled "Kiss the Carpet" on various bootlegs.

Demos of Valentine and Anaconda also exist.
If I told them once, I told them a hundred times to put 'Spinal Tap' first and 'Puppet Show' last.

Hey Joe, Stairway to Heaven, Stop Dragging My Heart Around... just a few to add to the list.

Also there are a lot more versions of certain songs than listed. Off the top of mty head there are at least 6 or 7 This Corrosions. There are 2 Giving Grounds on the 7". There are multiple versions of radio sessions tracks as well. I dont mean sources & generations but from different broadcasts -for example i have Alice faded into from Floorshow as well as stand alone versions of each. And a Burn without the cymbal crash on the first beat of the intro which is more than bizarre in its oddity.

Lastly when it comes to live versions i am unsure of what your qualifying criteria is so i'll leave that to you with a few corrections/queries. Louie louie was never played alone but always as a medley of either Sister Ray, Ghostrider or both. Nine While Nine wasnt segued onto Ghostrider -its slight but there is a gap. On The Wire was never played live on its own but was segued with Teachers.
Well I was handsome and I was strong
And I knew the words to every song.
"Did my singing please you?"
"No! The words you sang were wrong!"
