Incoming! wrote: 09 May 2024, 22:22 D I know the long time members of this forum have way better answer on that than me. People here really know their stuff about”something more”.

I do have a thought on why return to the States in particular so soon. One they recognize a new fan base here. And want to share live experiences with them.

Personally I think the Sisters believe, and rightly so, that the US is about to descend into pure anarchy after a military coup d’etat or nose dive into a civil war. Just a thought.
:D We got told during the US tour it was being planned, and during the UK tour it was on. There are a variety £££ of reasons, but the romantic part of me still believes that the timing is part of the electoral cycle.

There is no way I am planning for the USA until we get through June scar free.
I have no reason why they are coming here a second year in a row. I just think it’s great. :D. I’ll take your word that is was known in advance.

What do we know about the lineup for the tour? Saw on that there Twitterx that Mr. Catalyst will be appearing (at least on the US leg), which came as a surprise since I thought he was doing his own thing these days.

As Ian Dury said........ What a waste. The man is literally stood on the stage and has said in the past he actively wanted to play bass.
Instead he presses "play".

Technically it's not "play". It's "return". :innocent:

Did you see the latest M. Andrews interview with Von? Von agrees with you.

Interesting that Von didn't feel comfortable about singing "Mother Russia rain down" in 2022, but has no qualms in singing "Here come the Hezbollah" today

Ha ha, it looks like geopolitical realities have caught up with Von and "Doktor Jeep" is out of the setlist

Isn't it great, following the disasters of 1 year ago, that the reviews for this tour have been nigh-uniformly positive? Apart from that one guy who was outraged that there weren't live synth and bass players

Tour successfully concluded with no cancelled gigs! Who would have bet that earlier this year?

Yes, but The Sisters will definitely be around for the Sick New World Festival in April 2025, so there is a good chance they visit St. Augustine as well ... :) ...

With a little luck they'll hit a lot of other places in the States too... make it worth the trip.

The most successful tyranny is not the one that uses force to assure uniformity but the one that removes the awareness of other possibilities, that makes it seem inconceivable that other ways are viable, that removes the sense that there is an outside.

"A lot" in april is unfortunately not possible due to Kai's other commitments, but maybe St Augustine and possible another round at Brooklyn Bowl or some other place in Vegas. They have about a weeks time (travelling included) of possible touring-space in the US before, and not after, the festival.

So that's the end of the US tour. Time for a de-brief.

Hot take: is that the most successful tour they've done since the 1990s?

Seems like uniformly good shows, with good sound, no problems and it seems like mostly great reviews?

I'm trying to remember when that last happened?

Well, if you HAVE to include north America, ocean-to-Ocean tour in 2008 still takes the cake, all North American dates had good reviews, sound overall good and Von's voice was really loud.

I could argue that 2006 Bite the Silver Bullet tour was also pretty good, it was a huge ass tour with a bunch of bad gigs (some in Europe, some in the US even) and people really complained about the setlist back then, but it was a very organized act, with really positive reviews in general, en plus, some dates had the alternative setlist with Burn on it.

if NA is an optional stop, 2016 is probably the best tour since the 90s if you ask me.

That's a good point - lots of people were saying in advance the tour would be a disaster because some venues were downsized. But with respect, I personally wouldn't count "audience sizes" as a measure of success, as long as those audiences had a great time, the music was objectively good, and the band didn't lose money.

I do note a lot of reviews specifically note that Kai is great.
