I like both Pink Floyd and The Eagles. I would say for the"mellow moments" but more when I'm a tad wistful.

Swans BH, like Skids they had no 'The'.Black Horizon wrote:I prefer The Swans
Sorry if that was a bit RJlike, it's just my Mother used to work in the city centre in the 70's, close to the Glasgow Apollo, and I recall her coming home with tickets for me and my mates to see "Who" and later that same year "The Yes".

I didn't know what a concept album was until The Nephilim did the whole of Earth Inferno in album track order at the follow-up gigs. If any band is accused of doing a 'concept album', then I'd have thought that the least they would do is to perform the album as The Neff did. It was superb and did more to sell the album to my soul than any number of 'greatest hits' setlists. If the album is chopped up and mixed in with older songs then it's hardly a 'concept album' to start with, is it?Thrash Harry wrote:What? Comfortably Numb? Yes. Of course. But that's not what I'm getting at. Don't you think The Reptile House is very 'Concept Album'ish?Red Sunsets wrote:ruin it

And the concept is....no more relevant than any other band who think for a couple of years about what songs will be on their next album and then justify the wait in terms of 'a big think.'
Honestly, Eldritch warbled on about water and that, and we all swallowed it (in fact, some of us swallowed and then regurgitated large portions of the Mersey, whether it was the site of the 'Floodland' cover or not). It is my favourite album of all time, I kid you not, but 'concept album'.....? Ask Robert Calvert (dead, but you could still have a decent conversation) or anyone who thought a concept album was a good idea. After about 2 minutes, they forget how the seventh track had any relevance to the first. Concept? Pah!
