London

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I am at the age when many a lesser fellow sports more than a few grey whisps. Fit as a fiddle, taut as a bow, sharp as a tack and hard as nails, yet I find myself increasingly preoccupied with the effect this city is having on me. Mentally as well as physically. I breath in the belching buses. Suck on smeared smog. Rattle and drum with the battle of dumb tube trains cube brains. Am I the man I was? Am I the man I was going to be? What does staring at dirty buildings, wet tarmac and a gunmetal sky give me but a heavy heart?

The weeks become months and we harbour the dreams of those who left their shoes for us to step into, counting the days until we hand them on in turn.

London is the most happening ,vibrant city on the planet. That's why you can't move for immigrants be they from estonia, austrailia, somalia, dublin, salford, etc. I get sick of listening to people slagging the place off. If you don't like the culture, the fantastic open spaces, the nightlife, the cosmopolitan melting pot of people, then f**k off somewhere else and leave more room for the rest of us. BTW. London would not be quite the potential s**t it is ( in terms of the dire standard of living because it's so expensive , if 60% of(my) tax dollars weren't sent to supplement Scotland, Wales and the rest of the country.

Furthermore. Top tippage... if you're having difficulty getting around London buy a bus pass and and a bus map and bus hop... simple really...

London - the smoke lingers round your fingers. Nuff said.

By the way Lady Dahlia, welcome back indeed. I've missed you too. Did you ever get your HL t-shirt sorted? I've a feeling I may have yours on my back as we speak. :D :D

I'd agree with that but I wouldn't want to live there...

Yeah, we have, but only to keep the Home Counties types with Land Rovers away.

Heartlanders would be perfectly safe I'm sure. I'll have a word...
