If I won a substantial amont (ie. over 2 million quidish) I would NO DOUBT finance the next Sisters record for Von, Whammy & co.
I've had about 7-8 dreams regarding this situation.
I'm not stupid so I'd leave myself more than enough to be secure but I thnik the rest would be worth 'investing' on what 'we' want.

“I got lost in the mirror, wondering what could have been, I couldn’t help but kill her, but I couldn’t kill the dream.”
In a word - Most Certainly
I have had this very thought before. I have also wanted to buy a decent night club and have "The Sisters" play the opening night.
(The gig would also be filmed aswell - for a DVD release - as I would be in a position to buy the rights to all the songs and create a record lable!)

If I had thay sort of money to burn...
I think you'd get a higher financial return from burning the money (viz the KLF) but that's not the point is it? At least there would be new Sisters product.
One thought I've had is that I understand that Marillion's recent work has been financed by their online fan community. I had thought of trying to organise some kind of bond-sale; set up a company and sell shares in it to the Sisters fan community, and use the money to finance new Sisters product. Unfortunately, I can't really see Von going for that; I think that he'd think it was beneath him in some way? Also there'd likely be trouble if we raised the money and then Von told us to f**k off

Yeah, ive had the same thoughts, id make sure there was still plenty of money left over for me to have LOTS of fun, but id happily finance the next Sisters record, as long as i got thanks in the sleeve notes, and got to hang around the studio to watch Eld endlessley remix every song, wasting hundreds of thousends of pounds, before finally returning to the rough mixes.. But eld would have to sign an agreement saying he wasnt goign to do any really dodgy TOTP performances (i.e. hired people miming badly) oh and i have some cool ideas for a video for summer..

Hmmm, i have to admit they are funny.. not quite as funny as the walk away/no time to cry vids.. Hmmm, maybe he can do the miming badly for TOTP and then do a cool version for CD:UK or whatever the ITV alternative is these days .. oh and he has to to go on Terry & Gabby to do an interview, thatd be fun! (yes.. i do watch too much daytime tv.. im a student...)hallucienate wrote:But those are some of my favourtie TSOM moments (for all the wrong reasons, of course)Gary wrote:But eld would have to sign an agreement saying he wasnt goign to do any really dodgy TOTP performances (i.e. hired people miming badly) oh and i have some cool ideas for a video for summer..

I knew you'd see the light Compulsory miming for ALL songs, even the non-single versionsGary wrote:Hmmm, i have to admit they are funny.. not quite as funny as the walk away/no time to cry vids.. I'd pay for a Heartland convention (i.e. pay for everyone on this forum to come to Leeds and see both Sister's of Mercy and Murphy play a gig, perhaps even Rhombus and the avatar in support too?).

I would like to see this convention happen even whitout any of those bands.

I for one wonder if Von is still able to cut it... full stop.... It has been years since the last time we have been enlightened with lyrics that are worthy of being claimed to be written by the world's greatest writer... Perhaps 20 years of drug and alcohol abuse are taking their toll... Kind of hard to write a new song when only half of your brain is functioning properly...

Seems to me, if he thought he had something worth putting out, he'd have done it by now, one way or another. Be satisfied with what you've got, or find another star to follow.
