I first bought it on cassette at a record fair in Leeds circa 1988. It had a colour photocopied cover that was based on the Body & Soul artwork.allfear wrote:so whats the real story behind the legendary Victims Of Circumstance did gary marx really make the first compilation ? and if so whay is there that annoying faade during knockin?

Some of the studio stuff was terrible quality, surely GM would have had top quality versions??
Give me one good reason
and wouldn't be copying some tracks from vinyl - there are a few variants of this tape floating about - the idea may have been corrupted and added to over the years

was this tape the main-source of the gardens of delight? or does an ae version exist which is not that dull like all the versions i came across during the years? does anybody know exactly when this one was recorded?
track lists i have seem to be mixed up - does the tape feature a demo of skos?
whats the problem with emma? did the lead guitar mysteriously disappear (a phenomenon well known from sisters-recording-history), or only got lost in the mix?
finally, dance on glass has great sound - not that much of the cold war in it than in bp. i guess wayne never was into the cold war as von was.

It was the 1st time I came accross the Garden of Delight demo, although it had been recorded 3-4 years earlier. Some people close to the band must have had it since the mid 80's?jost 7 wrote:was this tape the main-source of the gardens of delight? or does an ae version exist which is not that dull like all the versions i came across during the years? does anybody know exactly when this one was recorded?

.
I can't remember if my tape had SKOS demo not?
Give me one good reason
from a well known source:
Victims of Circumstance
Ghostrider/Sister Ray/Red Skies Disappear/Dance on Glass/a Rock
and a Hard Place/Garden of Delight/Garden of Delight/Knockin' on
Heaven's Door/Serpent's Kiss/Emma/Jessica's Crime/Afterhours/a
Rock and a Hard Place/Temple of love/Some Kind of Stranger
following this skos should be a demo
is jessica's crime related to the band in any way (remix eg.)?
where are the live tracks from?
one of my favourite versions of serpenst kiss - anybody ever heard a version from these sessions with vocals?

I bought my copy of this from a certain little downstairs shop in Leeds in October/November 1987.
Tracklist
Side A
Ghostrider/Sister Ray [Melkweg, 2.6.84]
Red Skies Disappear (to the tune of First & Last & Always)
Dance On Glass (to the tune if Black Planet)
A Rock & A Hard Place (disco mix)
Garden Of Delight (Hussey)
Garden Of Delight (Eldritch)
Knockin on Heavens door (demo)
Serpent's Kiss (instrumental demo)
Side B
Emma (demo)
Jessica's Crime [Salvation demo. produced by Hussey]
Afterhours (remix)
*Jolene [peel session??]
*Knockin' on Heavens Door [Hamburg 21.9.85 w/Skeletal Family]
A Rock & A Hard Place (demo)
Temple of Love [Paradiso 28.8.83]
Some Kind Of Stranger [Lyceum 25.3.85]
No Time To Cry (demo)
*these 2 not listed on cassette insert
also no dates listed, I worked those out myself
As for the songs that have fades, one of the Garden Of Delights has a fade whereas the same version on a 7" doesn't have a fade, so maybe some prick deliberately put a fade in so he had a better version than everyone else to w*** over.

VICTIMS OF CIRCUMSTANCE * 16 Rare tracks Demos tape (inc Corrossion Demo)
This is a 1st generation copy tape that I obtained from the person who originally sold it in 1987 through the NME small ads section
The person who I got it from Gareth Fachett gave me one of the
very first copies but the tape snapped after he recorded it henceMy tape (BASF LH-MI c90) contains "Serpents Kiss" demo 84 at the end of side A
It also featuring a Corrossion Demo at end of side B.
When I got it the tape the single doesn't come out yet so at time I believed that it was an unreleased song. I had ring up the record company and them told me that Sisters had split up and no single was plan up. After few months This corrossion was on the shops. The song later appeared on Demos lp and it's slight different to final mix, especially for few lyrics of Pat at the end.
After I discovered that I was Aired in Usa for a American college and than broadcasted. the maiority of tapes don't have this and this track has appeared lately on very bootleg few bootlegs either CD or vinyl

Don't wish to boast but the THIS CORROSION College recording was introduced by my goodself thanks to a very good friend in the USA who worked on college radio. I never cobbled it together with the Victims of Circumstance demos though.
"i'm talking about god, devil, hell, do you understand, finally?"
I wish someone would weed a copy of this as I'd love to get one!

Jessica's Crime was the standout track for me, sorry

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
Again, I'd just like a copy on CD of the original tracklisting of this tape. It'd be good for weeding!

I have been meaning to put this on CD for about a year now, and finally got round to it today.
I haven't done any "remastering" or editing other than removing some of the longer gaps between songs.
(This was in an effort to fit it on to one CD, but it didn't quite make it, coming in at around 86 minutes - so I've done it as 2 separate discs with the same split as sides 1 & 2 of the tape.)
Big Si, PM me your address and I'll get a copy off to you ASAP. If anyone else is interested in this as a weed (or trade), let me know - although if others are interested we may have to start a new weeding thread to avoid any confusion with the remastered Victims CD currently doing the rounds...

Just looking at the Wiki via another recent thread and came across this thread again.the-happening wrote:Don't wish to boast but the THIS CORROSION College recording was introduced by my goodself thanks to a very good friend in the USA who worked on college radio. I used to buy bootlegs from a guy on Leeds second hand market in the mid/late 80's. I was browsing his wares one day, when he played me a new Sisters song & explained that a friend in the US had recorded it from US college radio a couple of weeks earlier, the song was the as yet unreleased 'This Corrossion'. This of course was in the pre-internet days when all trading was via cassettes in the post........were you the Leeds market man?
Give me one good reason
