Help with Leicester 84 Set List

Have you established a good reputation at HL and got some Sisters stuff to sell or trade with the community? Or are you searching for that elusive ultra rare live bootleg from 1988? Ever had a bad experience with a trader on Ebay? Let us all know here. Outdated threads will be purged over time.

This question is for all the fountains of knowledge out there.

I have received a copy of this gig in a trade but there is a bit of confussion over the set list.

The last four songs are as follows:

Body Electric
Gimme Shelter
Knockin...
Adrenochrome

Now here's the question? Was Gimme Shelter played at Leicester? I have seen the song on 2 traders lists and I have not seen the song on another 2 traders lists.

Can anyone confirm if Gimme Shelter was played?

Cheers

Dave

14. Adrenochrome

It's not a gig I have so I can't check it.

remember that Robin have this setlist on the gig.

Listening to the Leicester boot there is no suspicious cut or gap between body electric and knocking on heaven´s door. So they might have played gimme shelter after adrenochrome.
I believe Robin have the right answers here.

That's the correct listing, I have a tape that I got from Robin Colman and there is no Gimme Shelter on it ... Knocking on Heaven's Door has a very long drum intro, then A.E. mutters something and then the guitars kick in, Adrenochrome is the final encore.

people get stuff missing tracks, that doesn't mean they don't exist on someone's tape

Perhaps, but people also receive gigs with wrong dates all the time so who knows. Also I don't see what use it has to edit out Gimme Shelter, would it not be more likely that they didn't play it that night, or am I being naïve here ? (see http://www.myheartland.co.uk/viewtopic. ... ght=#68705)

Perhaps someone who has it without Gimme Shelter could see if it flows without cut/jump between body electric and knocking? My version is the same as snowey's and Gimme Shelter sits perfectly.

The thing is that particular setlist, with those particular 4 songs in the end GS included, was only in Brighton -84, and there's enough Von-talk to be certain it's not that one. If GS wasn't played, and that gig snowey is talking about isn't Leicester, i couldn't even begin to guess which gig it was. Also seems strange they all of a sudden would've not played GS on one night. Then again, that proves nothing.

Perhaps it's as simple as now from the twilight zone a complete recording has entered circulation, whereas before some fkwit had only given out edited versions?

Actually my tape has an awkward flow between BE and KOHD like something was cut out, but I always thought it was to edit out the crowd noise before they came back for an encore :?

Would only be able to judge if i hear Snowey's recording or yours

The recording seems pretty short of identifiers, but:
- just before Floorshow's drumbeat Eldy says: "i don't know what it is, either"
- just before Marian he says something that sounds like "this isn't something new"

on a live tape its pretty easy to tell if you have an orphan track or not, listen to the track before and after the suspect one - is there a phase shift in the sound image ? does the sound quality really change for that track ? are there any screamers on it which don't feature anywhere else on the tape ? The last 2 checks aren't always going to be conclusive but can help - the big one is the mix and sound image consideration.
There are 2 or 3 different tapes for leicester - so all sorts of comedy could have gone on between different tapes of the same gig as well.

OK, I will ask him about this. (I also live in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium and he's a regular visitor of the pub where I work )

I was very lucky to get a Brigthon top Rank 22.10.84 master tape directly from the guy that had recorded it and also Sister ray was played as encore
He edited this song in all copies that he done so the full Brighton gig
remained uncirculated. Andrew Pinnel knew this story and wrote it in the (shame) Heartland boot history book.

That is what Christer had listed in the section of what he actually has/had. In his wanted section, though, he included Gimme Shelter as the final song:

 Add me to the list of those pissed off at traders taking off tracks from gig recordings.

the gigs in christers wanted page with missing songs are taken from the old audio tape list that Robin had on his webpage.

Cool tidbit. Too bad neither site seems to have the same pull as previously. Both Robin and Christ have impressive collections and have put an effort into tracking down details.

Many of the tapes Christer have, he got from me.

Seems like the sisters did no time to cry as a extra encore after adrenochrome, but all the versions I have seen from this gig have not No time to cry.

You must have a nice collection.

Do you keep in touch with Christer? He seems to have disappeared.

Hey All
New to this forum - Would love a copy of this show -
As it was my first Sisters show -
Anyone got a copy of the support bands show from that night(Skeletal Family)or is this not the place to ask for 'other' bands :)
I have a trading page at www.tapetrader.com/grb1964 if anyone would like to trade with me for this show
