Hmmm, I also predicted the result as 3-0. But I would say that now, wouldn't I? I think most people agree the France performance was better, but it was still competent, and Rooney may be scaring defences into the latter stages of the competition, who knows? By traditional English standards, this counts as a good start to a major competition.

The English do seem to be in a unique position where they're required to soak up abuse from people from other countries without a murmur but it's free for all when anyone else wants to have a go at them. It's political correctness gone mad fuelled by white, middle class guilt.
I work with a lot of Austrailians at times, and many are so blatantly anti- English , without a trace of humour and affection it's not even funny.
