Yeah I heard about this.
mrs markfiend wrote:Ian Curtis was hardly your archetypal blonde haired, blue eyed, 6 packed Notting Hill lovey was he? Jude Law's really looking forward to it so he can do some singing and really show what he can do - no mention of respect for Curtis like - just 'this is the part that'll make me huge' flannel.
The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt.

there was a thread about the film but this was the first time i'd come across any casting news. i could have dug up the old thread but (a) i couldn't be arsed searching for it and (b) i thought a more provocative title might engender a better response.

i read about this on a fac mailing list last week.
jude's way too "pretty boy" and far too posh.
not sure who i'd suggest though. it would have to be an as-yet unknown newcomer as i cant think of anyone at the moment who could pull it off. yer man from "24 hour pary people" was good though
What’s the difference between a buffalo and a bison?
That's like casting Joan Fontaine to play Jane Eyre: ridiculous.
Of course, the counter is that Timothy Dalton played the most convincing Mr Rochester in the history of cinema, and he's not exactly hideous, now is he?
The comparison being that both Joan Fontaine and Timothy Dalton were pretty actors cast to play plain--or even ugly--characters. Jude Law's challenge is to make his physical appearance irrelevant to the audience in the context of the character. Dunno if he can pull it off. I saw him on Seventh Street while he was filming Alfie, and the man is damn pretty. I envied his suit, and he's not even my type. Anyway.

I read about this in the paper today. It made me laugh as it said that there would be extensive music by Moby featured. I thought it was a film about Joy Division..?

Oh lordy no; that would be far too depressing for the punters.Brideoffrankenstein wrote:I read about this in the paper today. It made me laugh as it said that there would be extensive music by Moby featured. I thought it was a film about Joy Division..?
Or at least, the ones the marketing departments would like to believe the film is being aimed at.
