Calling all the good folks of Yorkshire....

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Some of the nonsense contained herein may be very loosely related to The Sisters of Mercy, but I wouldn't bet your PayPal account on it. In keeping with the internet's general theme nothing written here should be taken as Gospel: over three quarters of it is utter gibberish, and most of the forum's denizens haven't spoken to another human being face-to-face for decades. Don't worry your pretty little heads about it. Above all else, remember this: You don't have to stay forever. I will understand.

I don't think they are exactly a "T" sound in Bratford and Putsey; it's more at the back of the throat; a glottal stop is it called? Is there a phonologist in the house?

Well I've often been ridiculed for pronouncing Keighley as "Keyley" - fair enough, but why do you northerners pronounce Slough as "Sluff"??? It just isn't right! :urff:

You should ask Wayne - he got a quick lesson in how to pronounce that earlier this year.

And in the wilds of Wiltshire you'll find Mildenhall, pronounced "Minal". And the wonderfully named Oare, unfortunately pronounced "Or".

All of which is most entertaining but unfortunately not helping DerekR to find rented accomodation near Tadcaster which allows pets. I imagine even my garage is looking an attractive proposition by now.
And you know that she's half crazy but that's why you want to be there.

Not bad, not bad at all. Only 23 3/4 hours from feed-line to punch-line ;)

Hellooooo....I'm ba-ack! :)

Now a resident of Manston Rise, (near) Crossgates. The locals tell me it's the nice half of Crossgates and I would tend to agree, lovely wee bungalow I've got myself, should do me nicely for the next 6 months. The cats love it too, I'm sure you're all relieved to know ;)

Been here a week and just got my phone line connected, back to bloody dial-up for the time being. Just got all my stuff moved in today too, how the hell did I fit all that lot into a one bedroom flat???

I'll be back properly once I've sorted all my sh1t out.

p.s. Nice weather doon here, lightning the other night the likes of which I've never seen before, and now blazing sunshine. Just like being in Scotland actually, except they all talk funny :)

Bloody hell, you don't hang around, do you? Can't make it out to play just yet, too much to get done. It will happen though, soon. My mate and his wife are coming down for a visit next weekend and we'll be looking for somewhere to go for a drink probably on Saturday. Might see you then.

Cheers!
